So Ramunap Excavator is finally here and for weeks I have been playing around with it's application into D&T. On one hand the card can create a very powerful lock with Ghost Quarter on the other hand it is hard to say what needs to come out for it.

So this is the first draft of the list I have been tinkering with, any suggestions or insights are much appreciated as I continue forward with yet another version of D&T.

Never been a fan of it in this build of D&T. I dont ever plan on using tec edge or Ghost Quarter as colourless sources as much as utility lands and as such Eldrazi Displacer was one of the cuts I had to make. I prefer to play Eldrazi Displacer along with cards like Thought-Knot Seer and I don't see that being possible here. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Don't have an answer, but a question: what does Silence come in against?

abby315Silence comes in against combo, control, Scapeshift, and overly aggressive decks. Honestly it would be so much better with split second but I make due with it. I use it as a panic button essentially, it can buy me a turn against a deck that could win that turn or it could prevent my opponent from accumulating a larger board state (my current meta contains a couple elf decks as well as a couple storm decks, by playing silence I can stop them in their tracks or force them to go off before they are ready). Hope that makes sense. And thanks for the upvote!

+1. Cool build. How do you like Gavony Township?

cplvela0811 I like Gavony Township just not in this deck seeing how I have flicker effects and exalted triggers. I like Gavony Township if my plan was to rely more on CoCo but that is not my plan necessarily.

Also, the other thing with it is that I already have a high number of lands that don't produce coloured mana, Gavony Township would hurt my mana base more than help it as I can't always solely rely on Aether Vial.

Basically my verdict is that it is a good card just not in this deck, if I were playing more CoCo based with stuff like Kitchen Finks I would definitely consider it and test with it, but here the deck isn't built to really support it. Thx for the upvote!

How has the mana base been working out for you? Taking a look at the list, I'd be a little worried about consistently being able to t1 Noble Hierarch with only 9 green sources that come in untapped on t1.

First off I must say I haven't been playing the deck much recently so I can't testify to recent data however I never really had a problem with the mana base. Noble Hierarch is by no means my preferred turn 1 play, that would be Aether Vial, and as such possibly not having mana to play Hierarch is not a huge concern, and from experience I almost never did not have the ability to play Hierarch if I wanted to. If you were to make the deck and were worried about the mana that much I play a high number of Strip Mine effects so cutting a couple Tectonic Edge for fetches, Horizon Canopy, or basics is something you could easily do.

Your thoughts on Tectonic Edge as opposed to Field of Ruin? I was under the impression that Field is almost always better. I know Leonin Arbiter affects you as well, but it seems strong. Aven Mindcensor is also worth considering, I think.

Sorry for the late reply, I must preface that I haven't been playing the deck al that much lately as I get ready for a GP that I plan on taking a different deck to. Field of Ruin is a great card and likely the best option in conjunction with Ghost Quarter (the best option in this deck) yes however as I have not been playing the deck I haven't had a chance to test and therefore until I get back to playing the deck I am going to stick with Tectonic Edge, thanks for making the correct observation however.

Aven Mindcensor is a tricky card, on paper it looks great but I have never really felt it was needed. Sure there is an argument to keep one in the sideboard in certain matchups however I find those slots can be better sent. Thanks for the suggestions.

P.S. I saw your trade offer from a few days ago, I've been swamped IRL so I'll need a bit of time to reply sorry however it looks like something I would consider.

Yeah, I agree Aven Mindcensor is a little tricky. I was mainly thinking it might be better than Leonin Arbiter if you decide to make the Tectonic Edge-to-Field of Ruin switch, as Mindcensor only affects your opponents. It might be more of a metagame call, honestly.

As for the trade, I'm in no rush; take your time!
