Sideboard

Azorious "Draw go" Control

needs sideboard help

play Trail of Evidence and sit back on the clues for card draw and Ghirapur Aethergrid and thopter spy network synergy.

Hold back early aggression with expose evil, clash of will, stasis snare and ojutai's command until you can board wipe. after that infinitely loop your deck with 2 learn from the pasts until you get your win cons.

Sideboard Plan:Against Ramp: Ramp is one of the hardest matches pre board. in the main we only have enough exile to deal with exactly 3 world breakers.(More if we cycle one off of Learn from the Past but lets not rely on that.)

-1 Clash of Wills||+ 1 Descend upon the Sinful

-1 Planar Outburst||+ 1 Void Shatter

-2 Immolating Glare||+ 1 Stasis Snare

+1 Angelic Purge

Bant CoCo: This one isnt as bad as the ramp matchup. Most of our removal plays on their turn like they play on ours. However Turn 2 Duskwatch Recruiter can be really painful

-2 Thopter Spy Network||+3 Negate

-1 Planar Outburst||+1 Stasis Snare

-1 Descend upon the Sinful

Black/White Mid-range: Planewalkers are hard to deal with. anguished unmaking sucks. save aethergrid until you can back it up with two counter spells at least. its rare that you will go to a game 3 or even finish game 2. if you win game 1:

-1 Expose Evil||+2 Negate

-1 Planar Outburst||+2 Quarantine Field

-1 Thopter Spy Network||

-1 Ojutai's Command||

if you dont win game 1 side in both the Sphinx's Tutelage and hope to get to game 3. if you get to game 3 you can try to win with the Tutelage's or go back to the first round win sideboard and hope to draw.

Blue/Red Control: You can easily win game one. counter their goggles and draw. game 2 they bring in fevered visions which can be a problem.

-2 Thopter Spy Network||+1 Angelic Purge

-1 Ghirapur AEther Grid||+2 Sphinx's Tutelage

-2 Planar Outburst||+2Negate

notice we took out our win cons for a faster tutelage kill but ideally you'll run time before finishing game 2.

Any Black/x/x Control decks: Transgress can completely destroy our game plans. This Match up will normally only be game 1 so play smart or scoop early. aggressively mulligan for invasive surgery

-2 Ojutai's Command||+1 Angelic Purge

-4 Expose Evil||+3 Invasive Surgery

-2 Planar Outburst||+3 Negate

-1 Immolating Glare+2Quarantine Field

Troublesome cards:

Tireless Tracker

  • I hate playing against this card. your opponents drawing cards is a problem. if you know they have this in their deck save a counter for it. also trading a board wipe 1 for 1 with this is acceptable.

World Breaker

  • We have limited exile which makes this card a nightmare for us. you have to play around this card extremely carefully or else you WILL lose.

Dragonlord Dromoka

  • only board clears can kill it.

Pulse of Murasa

  • we dont need these games to be any more grindy then they have to be. this is almost always a must counter.

Planeswalkers of any kind. especially Jace. we only have quarantine field to deal with these.

Vryn Wingmare

  • Counter or die

Nissa, Voice of Zendikar

  • her coming out early is akward especially game one. with no interaction until we can make a 4/4 with outburst. but she can just kill us over the course of a game otherwise.

more to come as i play more.

Suggestions

Updates Add

Round 1 against B/W Eldrazi: He wouldnt concede game one. so we played one round and i won in time. easy matchup overall....clear board and counter sorin/gideon

Round 2 against Bant Company: easy game one win. then mana screwed game 2 and 3

Round 3 against u/w humans: easiest match up. radiant flames and expose evil MVPs

Round 4: G/W tokens(our hardest matchup): i had counters for gideons. nissa's always died to wandering fumarole+expose evil on a token. game 2 was exactly the same
