Got my 4x Thoughtseize and 4x Cabal Therapy

They can basically do the job of Putrid Imp which is to discard my creatures from my hand and at the same time I can use it to discard my opponents counter spells.

Herald of Leshrac . Your land is My land.

January 3, 2012 12:50 p.m.

SplodyCopter says... #7

what the hell dude. that card is so freakin op. why did i not know of this?!

January 3, 2012 1:03 p.m.

Jokernaught says... #8

I was looking up card:Demon's Herald for an alara block card and I typed in Herald... It turned up. I was like what is this? And wham it hit me like a fat kid on a cupcake. It would go amazing in this deck. Especially if you dropped if turn 1 or 2. That and Void Maw . I explored time spiral a bit after I found Leshrac.

January 3, 2012 10:45 p.m.

dykcman says... #9

So, between Herald of Leshrac and Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger , which is better/more control?

January 3, 2012 10:49 p.m.

Jokernaught says... #10

Herald. Vorinclex only keeps the land locked down. Herald gives you the land to use. Voice is nice because it does give you double. If you ran both, you would own the game from turn2. A smart enemy though would tap the Land at the beginning of your untap step so that it would come under your control tapped. I found that trick in a sandbox playtest.

January 3, 2012 10:55 p.m.

Jokernaught says... #11

@solron22 You gotta fix the description that includes Mr. Eldrazi and Makeshift Mannequin

January 3, 2012 10:57 p.m.

solron22 says... #12

@Jokernaught so everytime i use Herald of Leshrac ability. the opponent can't use the land i controlled? if he/she can't use it ill put Herald of Leshrac :D and i already change the description :)

@SplodyCopter nice one! those are expensive hahaha. wish me luck to try this deck to some legacy tournaments :)

January 9, 2012 10:11 p.m.

solron22 says... #13

and guys do you have any idea on how to put this deck on one of the "Top Decks"?

January 9, 2012 10:16 p.m.

SplodyCopter says... #14

for it to get in "top decks" it has to have increased the rating by a lot in the last two weeks. this deck was on there for a while, but it's been a while since you posted it.

January 9, 2012 10:20 p.m.

Jokernaught says... #15

You gotta keep this thing cycled and troll it on every page like Vman has with his decks. He has posted BW morbid experiment. Haha there's a plug for ya. I swear if that guy had a nickle every time he plug his deck, he'd have a lot of nickles.

And Herald of Leshrac clearly says you control it. only downside is that after its first upkeep you must take over two lands. Look into Cumulative upkeep on Gatherer. I'm not the expert at it. It would probably work better has a late game control card in case you haven't been able to get what you want out. It would also rock multi player. look into Void Maw though. Keeps ALL graveyards clear until you need them un-clear and gives +2/+2 with trample. Definitely worth a thought or a playtest.

JazzCrimes says... #16

First off, love the Skyrim reference. Second, if you want to use Eldrazi, use Pathrazer of UlamogMTG Card: Pathrazer of Ulamog or It That BetraysMTG Card: It That Betrays. Their mana costs don't matter to you, they are DEVASTATING to your opponents, and they don't have the 'shuffle back in' issue that Legendary guys have. Third, this deck is hilarious. So rude. I like the idea of Zombie InfestationMTG Card: Zombie Infestation to help you discard your reanimation targets. A looter mechanic could help too, but I wouldn't know where to put it at first glance. This has a classic build to it- very much like original Reanimator. Make sure to yell "FUS RO DAH!" when you get your turn one combo. :P

January 20, 2012 5:21 p.m.

solron22 says... #17

@Jokernaught i think i still like my Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger MTG Card: Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger

@UlamogsGyre if i put either Pathrazer of UlamogMTG Card: Pathrazer of Ulamog or It That BetraysMTG Card: It That Betrays, which card i will replace on my main deck? hahaha sure, i will! :D

January 23, 2012 10:37 p.m.

solron22 says... #18

Do you guys thinks its way better if I add 4x Lotus PetalMTG Card: Lotus Petal?? like, it makes the deck much faster??

January 24, 2012 9:39 a.m.

mattil says... #19

TerastodonMTG Card: Terastodon!! It's crazy evil in turn two-three! You kill his lands and can block his puny 3/3's with your mighty 9/9 - besides those 3/3's are nothing compared to the cat's you bring in turn after turn

radouf says... #23

Hey, why not Encroach instead of Duress??

February 2, 2012 4:26 p.m.

SplodyCopter says... #24

EncroachMTG Card: Encroach only hates nonbasic lands. as in, it searches for a land that is not basic. you may be thinking it searches for a card that's not a basic land.

February 3, 2012 12:04 a.m.

Jokernaught says... #25

I know its green but its a trap card. if your getting countered. bite back like a boss. Summoning TrapMTG Card: Summoning Trap. its a zero drop. I dont know if it would work in this deck tho. For some reason all my ideas are green. Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan for the fetch land. Inkwell LeviathanMTG Card: Inkwell Leviathan is probably already on your list.

Roil ElementalMTG Card: Roil Elemental is like your mob boss here.

February 3, 2012 4:21 a.m.

SplodyCopter says... #26

Summoning TrapMTG Card: Summoning Trap wouldn't work very well in this deck since he doesn't hard cast any creatures, so he doesnt actually "cast" a creature spell.

February 3, 2012 8:05 a.m.

@solron22, hey how has your deck been doing in playtesting, especially with the low land count? I'd like to build this deck, it looks so fun :P

February 17, 2012 4:53 a.m.

solron22 says... #32

@shedidthistome well its pretty fast in my IMO and some other people haha but many prefer the B/U Reanimator Build but the cards for the Blue you need especially the dual lands and the counter they are so expensive so thats why i like to remain as mono-black :) try playtesting for yourself and beat some other legacy decks in the site :D

goodluck on building yours! :D i haven't tried this on any tournys still thinking if its already in good shape to compete.

February 17, 2012 11:01 a.m.

scholar says... #33

@solron22, do you have any links to the B/U reanimator builds, just so I can see the disparity? Thanks!

February 17, 2012 6:03 p.m.

solron22 says... #34

@shedidthistome sorry none, just type in google "B/U Reanimator deck legacy" and it will give you some links :)

February 17, 2012 6:29 p.m.

Jokernaught says... #35

Magmatic ForceMTG Card: Magmatic Force is a lovely card to reanimate. That 3 damage an upkeep hurts.

February 17, 2012 10:50 p.m.

Cyber Locc says... #36

dont put phage with sheoldred cuh if platium leaves and sheoldred forces you to bring back phage thats game happened to me many times so i nix phage and angel in my edh and also both of your stradgies are the same in your description i would recommend you find a different one because those are close to impossibe a turn two win however might be more plausible and is realistic especially because the rule with reanimtors if you aint won by turn 4-5 you arent gunna

February 17, 2012 11:58 p.m.

SplodyCopter says... #37

@smokeylocc, i consistently play my own tweaked version of this deck for 10-12 turns vs my friend's merfolk deck, and i still win. it's pretty much a rule in legacy tournaments that you need to be fast, but this is perfectly viable.

@shedidthistome, Reanimator - Josh Weinundy (won 1st in a legacy tourney)

February 19, 2012 3:54 p.m.

scholar says... #38

@solron22, this may sound lame, but why the Pithing NeedleMTG Card: Pithing Needle in your sideboard over two more Null RodMTG Card: Null Rod? I notice a lot of reanimator decks sideboarding Pithing NeedleMTG Card: Pithing Needle. Am I missing something?

February 22, 2012 3:32 p.m.

scholar says... #39

@solron22, also... correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can have Akroma, Angel of FuryMTG Card: Akroma, Angel of Fury and Akroma, Angel of WrathMTG Card: Akroma, Angel of Wrath both out at the same time, due to the legendary rule. So you wouldn't have five color protections out at once.

February 22, 2012 4:52 p.m.

SplodyCopter says... #40

the legend rule applies to the entire name of the card, so if both cards were named Akroma, but they were different cards (which wouldn't happen), then the legend rule would apply. but since it's Akroma, blah blah blah and Akroma, different blah, they're two different legends.

however, the planeswalker rule deals with the card type line - you can't have Jace, the Mind SculptorMTG Card: Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Jace BelerenMTG Card: Jace Beleren out at the same time, since both are Planeswalker - Jace.

use AngerMTG Card: Anger instead of urabrask and you only need 2 rituals and buried alive and 1 of any 1 or two cast reanimation spells

hats off to you sir, but how do you answer forces on first turn or dazes on the draw with no counters? i love the deck type and this deck seems solid and i plan to steal some ideas from it :D im just super limited in funds right now so i cant get some of the staple cards like pithing needle and a few of the creatures. so +1 from me and maybe look into some blue for counters

April 1, 2012 9:08 p.m.

solron22 says... #45

@DarianDDS thanks! and Chancellor of the AnnexMTG Card: Chancellor of the Annex and ExtirpateMTG Card: Extirpate will help me get rid of any counter spells :)

@smokeylocc lol i was going to say that.

April 2, 2012 9:33 a.m.

Cyber Locc says... #46

your right dariandds blue add would be good but hella expensive when a playset of force is about 500 dolars but solron22 do you realy only run 12 land and that works i mean ive heard of realy good reanimators running 17 but 12 i mean even with lotus petal that seems a bit low and heres the big question do you actually play this deck because the land looks a little low and i dont know where you play but where i live every1 in legacy runs a ton of grave hate in sideboard and i see know way of dealing with grave hate at all might i suggest sideboarding phryxian obiletor and also y phage in your maybe board that should be in the absoultly never board granted shes a good card but if you reanimate her you lose and if your playing the deck right you will never have enuff mana unless you pull three dark rituals and her turn 1 legacy games are usually over turn 4 max

April 2, 2012 5:09 p.m.

SplodyCopter says... #47

a playset of force is like, 200 dollars. just sayin. i run 16 land, with 4 fetches.

If you're looking for combos, i would put in some discard (to discard the creatures you get in your hand) such as Funeral Charm or Raven's Crime . Discard goes really well with this type of deck and it practically allows you to win the game if you draw a Griselbrand . another really nasty combo is Platinum Angel with Griselbrand , allowing you to draw infinite cards, and with discard thats game over. i used to run this type of deck and thought that worked best. +1

November 20, 2013 12:52 p.m.

+1 I like it! Refreshing to see other mono black reanimator decks.

I also have one that kills on T1 with Maelstrom Wanderer and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight Feel free to check it out: Excuse me... I see dead people (Reanimator)

I would suggest to exchange Urabrask the Hidden against Maelstrom Wanderer except you require his ability to let enter your opponents creatures tapped.

Cheers, Noc

November 20, 2013 8:54 p.m.

Also Maelstrom Wanderer would be awesome with Maelstrom Archangel

November 21, 2013 12:57 p.m.

solron22 says... #62

November 21, 2013 10:18 p.m.

Well actually he deals more damage and also you can cascade twice when you cast him for free with Maelstrom Archangel .

Pro for cascade: Most likely you will get to reanimate or to cast a creature on the battlefield which will have haste because of himAgainst cascade: It can happen that you will have to exile Griselbrand or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

I'd say it's worth to test it. And only afterwards you will be able to judge wheter he's better or not. =)

Hope this helped.

Cheers, Noc

miracleHat says... #64

why did you choose against running Entomb ? it allows for a turn 1 Iona, Shield of Emeria which spells death for most decks.

December 11, 2013 11:34 p.m.

solron22 says... #65

Droxium , what do you mean against Entomb ? I can easily switch Iona, Shield of Emeria back to my main deck whenever I feel like it. I'm just showing here my own combo.

miracleHat says... #66

Oops, didn't see it in the deck. Your deck looks really good! about your sideboard, i would like to see Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur in here, destroys any deck if played turn 1.

fun trick of the day, Necromancy using its instant speed ability can catch an emrakul in response to its reshuffle ability. i.e. Entomb Emrakul, the Aeons Torn putting him in grave. His reshuffle mechanic will trigger, in response casting Necromancy at instant speed targeting emrakul will put him into play.

December 20, 2013 8:30 p.m.

thuzra says... #69

Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind goes great with Griselbrand and Jin-Gitaxias as damage combos. I run it in my own reanimator.

January 10, 2014 12:02 p.m.

This looks really nice! +1

But... What do you think about adding Anger istead of Urabrask the Hidden ? By adding some Badlands s and fetchies (i know, sounds more easy than it is) you can save one spell...

Animate Dead has been sitting on the maindeck for a long time and its also great. Then I realize that Goryo's Vengeance is much better, cause you can use it to "reanimate" Emrakul, the Aeons Torn .

Just in case you have the following cards in hand:

1x Dark Ritual

1x Entomb choosing Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

1x Goryo's Vengeance

If you don't want to side in all three Urabrask the Hidden , Magister Sphinx , and Sharuum the Hegemon ; and since Iona, Shield of Emeria is already a starter, you can just side in a Painter's Servant for a T1 win guarantee. You don't even have to guess the correct color to call! Solves multi-color problems as well. Additionally, you can use 2x Entomb s instead of just Buried Alive with the double Reanimate . Furthermore, if the 2x Entomb s are used, you can use an Exhume with a Reanimate . These options slightly increase the chance of drawing a T1 winning hand. On a side note, Avacyn, Angel of Hope pairs great with Empyrial Archangel or Palisade Giant ...

!!+1!!

July 1, 2014 5:20 p.m.

ouch.nicekick says... #75

Hell, if the Painter's Servant ends up in your opening hand, you can just hard cast it before or after you bring Iona, Shield of Emeria out.

Swamp + Lotus Petal + Dark Ritual + Entomb + Reanimate + Painter's Servant + Any Card Here

Swamp + Dark Ritual + Dark Ritual + Thoughtseize (opponent) + Entomb + Reanimate + Painter's Servant

Just a couple of the possibilities...
