AFTER HAVING SWITCHED UP THE DECK STYLE, I WENT CUT THROAT AND SPLASHED SOME OF THE NASTIEST BLACK MODERN CARDS!

If you're going for a combo deck, which in modern everybody hates, you're gonna want to go for better win conditions than the crappy tree trisk, combo. You might want to go with the exquisite blood and sanguine bond combo as its equally fun to do as it is douchey to do, best of luck on your modern deck

The deck is not intended to win modern tournaments. It is a 60 deck for casual. The modern is a format to assist in the guidelines within the deck will be constructed. I do enjoy a rules biases to construct around. I have an EDH I have dubbed Blood Knights that already contains the Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood combo, but thanks for the input.

I would splash red for effects like Banefire oh and Mardu Shadowspear! I am trying to think of more ways to count to 13. This is the best Trick deck I've seen yet.

In General, if your going to play Triskaidekaphobia with the tree, build around a control shell. You don't need any 5 or 6 drop creatures. Ideally it's a consistent turn 5 combo like this

T1Inquisition of Kozilek to grab a counter-spell

T2Lightning Greaves/Removal

T3Drown in Sorrow/other disruption or removal

T4 Tree and attach greaves

T5Triskaidekaphobia win T6

I would build it in a control style deck in either mono-black, or add blue for combo protection. Black also has cards like the now slightly cheaper Inquisition of Kozilek (Now $7) that are great for disruption, and Despise/Duress are cheaper options. Black also offers great removal like Go for the Throat, and addition 3 drops are Hero's Downfall or Graveblade Marauder

Also slashing green for ramp with Elvish Mystic and possibly Autumn's Veil

Or you could win T5 with a red aggro

T1 spike/bolt

T3 4 damage via one card or 2

T4 Phobia

WizardRouge I truely love the suggestions! That is exactly type of help I needed. I think mono-black would be fun to play. If I get bored I will splash red.

Beseech the Queen is usually the superior tutor in mono black. I've always splashed red in these for Bump in the Night Hidetsugu's Second Rite and Lightning Bolt, but mono black is very doable. Geth's Verdict will likely be useful and Ratchet Bomb for tokens/enchantments. With this much discard I like Blackmail over Despise or Duress as it can hit lands- Whispers of Emrakul/Wrench Mind and some Shrieking Affliction/The Rack and you have a teir 2 deck hidden in sideboard, although you'll need Tormod's Crypt(or similar), and Pithing Needle might just be good enough for mainboard. I'd consider running about 10 draw/tutor effects to stabilise the win con, but it really depends on how disruptive you need to play.

I'd add in some Mutavault as an alternate wincon.

Would replace Blackmail with Funeral Charm or Raven's Crime

Ultra unrealistic but Wall of Blood+Magus of the Mirror

I know this is casual but if it wasn't then Ensnaring Bridge could be good.
