Mizzix's Mastery Combo

An unfair combo deck that attempts to quickly cast Mizzix's Mastery targeting Emergent Ultimatum in the graveyard, put there by a number of draw-discard spells. Ultimatum finds a number of combos/value plays to help win the game.

Combos as soon as turn 3.

Ultimatum Targets (In order of importance)

Searching for Omniscience + Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted + Peer into the Abyss forces the opponent to give you Omniscience.

If the other 2 cards are given, select Peer first to put it on the stack such that it resolves last, targeting the opponent. Select Ob Nixilis to be cast first so that when they draw, they die to his static ability.

If Omniscience is given it should be possible to win.

Searching up Omniscience + Scholar of the Lost Trove + Final Parting is part of a good combo. If the opponent gives you Omniscience it should be possible to go off. If they don't, put Scholar on the stack first, and then Final Parting.

For the card into your hand, choose whatever makes sense for the moment.

For the card that goes into the graveyard to be cast, there are a number of choices as well.

  • Emergent Ultimatum if it is clear to go for a combo. You can iterate this loop up to 4 times depending if all of the Scholars/Final Partings/Ultimatums are still in the deck. This should be possible to get you between 10 and 25 power into play plus an extra turn spell.
Sublime Epiphany - You need to copy a Scholar and/or remove a blocker/lock piece.

Alrund's Epiphany - You have a good board state and need to attack to get over the finish line.

Unburial Rites - You have a scholar that was discarded at some point and have another graveyard target for it.

Glasspool Mimic   - Have another big spell in the grave and a scholar in play, and you need more power in play to close out. Not really a significant option until you're finishing a combo with an extra turn upcoming.

Sideboarding

Not really a Bo3 deck but we do have a plan.

Difficult to make many cuts to this deck but the first to go are Creative Outburst, then Thrilling Discovery, then up to 2 lands.

Pact of Negation and/or An Offer You Can't Refuse to help combo turn resolve. In the case of pact, we must be able to untap with 5 mana in order to not die, so combo turn may have to be slow-rolled to turn 4 or 5 to be sure.
Fracture if we really need to get rid of a creature. Dire Tactics if it's Heliod, Sun-Crowned. Leyline Binding is a maybe in this situation.
Glasspool Mimic   in for lands if we have issues getting enough power on the board to punch through, or if they have removal for the Scholars, or if they have no interaction whatsoever and we want to ensure a kill.
