100% FOIL —Nov. 9, 2014
WOOHOO! It's finally done! As of about a week ago from today, This deck has achieved 100% foiling! Thanks to everyone who traded with me to help make it possible! I plan on updating regularly when cuts are made. Please help to make this deck run as efficiently as possible, but remember, suggested cards MUST be available in foil!

I have. I've had this deck for well over a year now and it just has so much fun. Of my five Commander decks, it is easily my favorite. If you have any of the foils I don't have, feel free to look through my trades and message me! I'm super stoked to foil this out. My favorite thing about this deck is that it has lethal combos without sacrificing the ability to win outright with it's creatures.

I'm working on a Voltron Mill but love other variations and evolving strategy. forget Crypt Ghast with the W mana in the text.To help with Tunnel Vision I'm trying out Junktroller for reusable in case the spells get countered.

@s0ak: Crypt Ghast is a legal card in this deck. The hybrid mana symbol is in reminder text and does not count towards the creature's color identity. I've definitely been thinking about Junktroller . thanks! =]

Update: 2-20-2014 This deck now has a total of 67 foils! Only 33 more to go!
February 20, 2014 11:07 a.m.
Ummm. Unfortunately, it looks like you'll only be able to find 32 of those foils. Sadly, Underground Sea doesn't exist in foil unless you make your own. Also, not sure if you're taking suggestions but, Deadeye Navigator works tremendously with Rune-Scarred Demon

I noticed. Lake of the Dead doesn't come in foil either :P I have a friend who makes foil proxies and he is going to do up a sexy USea for me! I'll definitely look into the Navigator. I like the idea of him having synergy with ETB effects in this deck. I think the Main reason I wasn't playing him was because i only have three creatures to abuse him with.

I see some great synergy with Evil Twin as well. Copy creature, destroy original, blink...rinse and repeat. Bonding him with the Titans can get pretty wild too.

Though, pulling rune-scarred demon and tutoring for navigator seems really good...
February 20, 2014 9:33 p.m.
Pair the 2 together and you always have a chance to search for whatever answer you may need at instant speed. Opponent casts Supreme Verdict and you have no counter in hand?...Blink Rune-Scarred, search for Hinder and bottom deck it.

Almost a flawless scenario there. Supreme Verdict can't be countered, but i get where you're coming from :P I really like Deadeye Navigator and I'm looking hard to find more inclusions to abuse him with. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can bounce navigator and reapply soulbound to something else, yes?

I'm actually thinking about cutting the titans in favor of creatures like Nemesis of Reason and Chancellor of the Spires and Diluvian Primordial . Jace's Mindseeker even feels playable with Navigator. There are a lot of cards to go in and I can not make that many cuts without losing my head. PLEASE HALP!
March 3, 2014 10:30 a.m.
If it were me, I'd think about the following cuts
Nightveil Specter
: Because of commander mana restrictions it is really hard to snag something you can use. Better to just mill, I think.
Glimpse the Unthinkable
: Great card, but a stepped back from mill only spells in my own deck because I just don't feel like a single card for a flat amount makes a big enough dent. You kind of have to combo it out.
Liliana Vess
: is likely the weakest of your planeswalkers. I tend to user her just for the tutor effect. The other abilities are less relevant to you.
Swaps:
Undermine
for Spell Crumple
: Second combo piece for Tunnel Vision
also it hates on commanders
Phyrexian Ingester
for Duplicant
: The original is cheaper to get out. I feel like he's more removal and less beat down. So why not make him cheaper?

Suggestions:
Body Double
: Take advantage of the full graveyards
Altar of Dementia
: Wipe my board? Have some mill!
Undead Alchemist
: If this guy sticks he causes all sorts of hell. Combos with nearly everything in your deck.

This is the BEST Oona based deck I've seen to date. Granted that may not mean much since I still hold the opinion that this deck is not terribly competitive and has a hard time winning over 4 players.
Personally I still believe that Laboratory Maniac + Leveler is the best way to win in a 4 man pod especially with Leyline of Anticipation being used to flash one or the either in at the end of someone's turn, of course leaving yourself some mana open for counters.
April 2, 2014 2:47 a.m.
Let me rephrase that.... Flashing in Leveler at the end of someone's turn, then Laboratory Maniac during your upkeep with enough mana to make sure he sticks!

These are all great ideas! I'm actually in the process of building Mono-Blue with Azami. I can honestly say that Leveler will likely go there.
@apt142 When it comes to Nightveil Specter my metagame consists of a large amount of blue and black. He fits perfectly here. He adds three devotion to Thassa, Erebos, and Phenax. I couldn't ask for a better card in a better spot. A 2/3 flier with upside is actually good here.
I'm playing the Glimpse the Unthinkable solely because it's foil japanese. I figure that it's a mill deck and it should look like it. Vanity comes at a price.
As for Spell Crumple to combo with Tunnel Vision I was running this as the second combo piece for quite some time and found that I would regularly prefer something else. I'm actually contemplating moving this combo over to Mono blue and adding some stronger combo pieces like Bloodchief Ascension and perhaps Deadeye Navigator the latter being wary because I'm anticipating a ban for this card.
Duplicant it is! I'll make the cut when I can find a foil one :P
I'm definitely going to include Laboratory Maniac in Mono Blue. I also want to play Mirror-Mad Phantasm there.

Sepulchral Primordial
is another suggestion I'd put forward.
You have Diluvian Primordial and I think they do very similar things here for you. The question is which will give you the better options in your meta. I prefer creatures since I know my meta has a lot of great creatures with nifty enter the battlefield effects I would want to trigger. And getting 3 of the biggest creatures if my meta out of the graveyard can be really devastating.
With either, mill gives you the luxury of choice.
April 2, 2014 3:08 p.m.
Mmm, mill, one of my favorite ways of playing magic (the other being infect). How fast does your deck run, and how does it fair against the Eldrazi kings when they cause a reshuffle? (Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth ) My meta is packed with them, and I've found the speed of my mill deck isn't quite up to par against them. My playgroup runs vicious little tournament quality decks, so speed and efficiency are always what I'm aiming for.
I'd appreciate your input if you have some time http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mirko-combo-mill/

Great list and description, thanks for sharing!
How useful do you find your selection in the commander? Did you do any testing or put any thought into using Phenax? I understand he has his own synergies that don't fit with some of your list, but I'm just curious about your thoughts on it.

+1.. This deck is brutal and beautiful at the same time.. I have to ask, have you ever cast Rise of the Dark Realms after (obviously) milling your opponent?
May 29, 2014 11:56 a.m.
NuBByThuMB says... #24
@dkaczynski first off, our last names are literally a three letter difference. Rofl. Kopczynski is my last name. Second, I tried Phenax as the general. I would much rather have a body that counts towards devotion to all my gods. I like that Ions makes her own bodies as chump blockers at instant speed. I also like having a physical creature. Sure, Phrnax can be a creature. But there's an lot yo say for casting a real dude and not justvan enchantment.
@ZombieCat My biggest Rise of the Dark Realms has landed me somewhere near 70 creatures after milling my opponents exponentially.

Well, that settles it. I'm making an Oona, Queen of the Fae EDH deck. I hope you don't mind, I'll be using your deck list as a backbone. Your deck is just.. well, I'm in awe of it. I was trying to do something similar in my Vorel of the Hull Clade EDH deck with Grimoire of the Dead + Traumatize but, now.. now I've found what I was looking for.
