how's Ojutai's Command been for you? I have my own Jeskai Midrangeish deck, but I've decided to go more the dragons route with 4x Thunderbreak Regent

my main problem matchup seems to be Abzan Aggro though, as I need to land a threat on T2 or T3, then just have all answers to their stuff (strike, stance, stoke, glare, disdainful stroke) or be able to outrace them which is a problem cause of Rhino. How has this matchup been for you?

Updated to include 4x Thunderbreak Regent and Draconic Roar. These cards have been doing serious work!

What will you do when Theros goes out?

Well the biggest things that I lose are Stormbreath Dragon, Goblin Rabblemaster, and Stoke the Flames. Rotation is several months away so there is no point in worrying about it now!

I would really like suggestions on what cards from Origins to add! I plan on taking this deck to Games Day but am not sure what changes should be made.

I've seen lists having Harbinger of the Tides cause it can be brought back with Ojutai's Command, but I have yet to see it in action so not sure how good it is.

I do like Harbinger of the Tides as it if a huge tempo swing but is hard to get on turn 2.

What do you guys think about Clash of Wills?

I think holding up that much mana in this kind of deck would be hard, Disdainful Stroke and Negate are so good in these decks (and in general) because they're so mana efficient. Clash of Wills is more for a dedicated control deck I think.

I'd keep 1-2 Clash of Wills in the sideboard, if anything. I already have Disdainful Stroke and Negate in the side. Clash would be used as a tempo play on turn 2-4 if I'm on the draw. It's not a great late game spell so I probably won't use it.

Hallowed Moonlight would be interesting against decks with Genesis Hydra, Chord of Calling, Deathmist Raptor, or Hornet Queen. It's definitely not worth a mainboard slot but I could see it being a useful 1-2 of in the sideboard. Swift Reckoning is also interesting.

Deck looks kinda slow

I playtested this against my deck and I won 2-0. If you would like to playtest it yourself, U/R Time's Ticking. Good deck though. I love the Mantis Riders, it makes me want to splash white in my deck.

Jsmith94: To keep up with midrange decks I need my deck to be resilient (Stratus Dancer, Soulfire Grand Master, Ojutai's Command, etc). Jeskai decks can't just rely on Goblin Rabblemaster and Jeskai Charm to win games anymore, though I wish they could!

8bitMick: That's interesting, as I just tested our decks against each other and my deck won 2-0. When I played your deck I had a hard time getting double blue by turn 3 for Dissolve and Dissipate, I would highly recommend 4 Temple of Epiphany and 2 more Swiftwater Cliffs. Dig Through Time would also be great in your deck. Thanks for the playtest data!

I recommend taking a look at this deck that is having some pretty significant success in a solid testing gauntlet. Imho, your deck just looks confused. What is the plan? You can't call it a tempo deck when you run 5 drops and 26 lands, make up your mind on what this decks plan be. Do you want to kill them earlier or draw the game out? Figure that out, and cut accordingly. Good luck, hopefully you can take something out of the linked decklist.

DMR: After playing in an FNM level event with this deck last night I realized that it is too slow. It's more of a Midrange than a Tempo deck, and Abzan does Midrange way better. It held its own against many other decks but when I can't burn out control decks I have a problem.

I think I'll be going the burn route (Jeskai Charm, Stoke the Flames, Exquisite Firecraft, etc) soon, so stay tuned for updates!

Deck has been updated! I decided to go the Jeskai Ascendancy tokens route.

This will be my deck for Game Day this weekend, any suggestions for sideboard? Right now I'm planning on boarding into control.

This def needs Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip.

And as a 4 of.

Take out the 2 anticipates, 2 jeskai charms add in 4 of Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip.

Take out 2 Ojutai in sideboard, put Valorous Stance in sideboard, put in 2 Ojutai's Command mainboard. Ojutai's Command goas hand in hand with Seeker of the Way & Jace. You can revive Seeker, but most of the time you are gonna wanna revive Jace at the end of their turn, and flip it during your turn, buy back some type of burn or token maker and collect your winnings.

August 3, 2015 11:51 a.m.

I like Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip but there's no way I'm getting 4 of them before Saturday.

August 3, 2015 12:49 p.m.

Any sideboard suggestions? I'll be boarding into control with Dragonlord Ojutai as my main win condition. I'm not sure if I should use anything to specifically deal with Ensoul Artifact decks or not.

between Jeskai Charm and Valorous Stance you should be fine against Ensoul Artifact. Bring in Anger of the Gods and maybe add in a Revoke Existence probably cutting a Narset Transcendent, and you'll be fine.

August 6, 2015 9:22 a.m.

DO you think people will be running more enchantment hate in the sideboard thanks to Ensoul Artifact? I'm worried about keeping Jeskai Ascendancy up. Dromoka's Command already hits this deck pretty hard.

I think Anticipate is too slow in this aggressive format. I would suggest to replace it with Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip, but if he's too hard to get, I would put in something proactive.

I do think enchantment hate will be more common. I expect a lot more Revoke Existence, Unravel the Aether and Annul. I don't think it will be maindeck though. I would not feel good bringing Jeskai Ascendancy. I think regular Jeskai Aggro will be better, and Mantis Rider looks pretty good in the current format. If you want to bring Jeskai Ascendancy though, maybe you can make room for Mantis Rider in the board, and next level players bringing in enchantment removal.
