Instant (2)

Just another take on Grixis Control for the upcoming format. Thoughts for the deck are:

Instant/Sorcery:

Moment of Craving - In there for the current Mono-Red deck, which seems to be the favorite at my local game shop

Search for Azcanta   - Really wanted to avoid a ton of expensive cards, but this is just too good to pass on

Expansion / Explosion - Thinking that the front half of this card is going to be great against control, where as the back half provides damage and card draw for the late game, also a good way to go over the top against Golgari

Ionize - Counter a spell plus two chip damage... yes please!

Lava Coil - Originally had Lightning Strike in this slot, but with everyone currently playing Golgari, this matches up too well not to play

Sinister Sabotage - Counters a spell, and hopefully lets you fix your next draw

Fight with Fire - Hits efficiently against creature decks, and hits hard in the control matchup... until it gets sided out for Banefire

Syncopate - Early, late, doesn't matter because this will counter everything, also destroys graveyard strategies with the exile clause (Take that Golgari!)

Vraska's Contempt - Probably still one of the best cards in Standard, also need something to deal with the fact that everyone and their mother is still going to be playing Teferi, Hero of Dominaria

Chemister's Insight - Really important to draw cards in a control deck

Ritual of Soot - Works out well in a deck that has no 1,2, or 3 drops

Creatures:

Crackling Drake - Chose this over Nicol Bolas, the Ravager   because I like drawing more than making someone else discard. Also feel like this guy getting big is just as much of a win-con as flipping Bolas, without the mana investment

Niv-Mizzet, Parun - Ok, ok, I know Doom Whisperer is probably better, but this card is the whole reason I wanted to play this deck in the first place. He just seems like way too much fun to pass on.

Side board:

Banefire - There for the control match up, hoping that between a Fight with Fire or two to the face, a little chip damage with Ionize, and this might finish a few games

Essence Scatter - Cheap way to deal with creature-heavy decks

Fiery Cannonade - When people play tokens, just say no

Phyrexian Scriptures - Go away Carnage Tyrant!

Ritual of Soot - Boros, Selesnya, and Golgari all really do not like this card. Sideboard freely.

Unmoored Ego - Pray you can name Teferi, Hero of Dominaria

Moment of Craving - Extra Life gain plus killing a creature against Mono-Red

I am totally open to suggestions on this, and would love to get some feedback. Thanks in advance for your advice!

After going 1-2 in a tournament, I found that this deck was not keeping pace with Golgari, so I swapped in extra control, including Fiery Cannonade and Fight with Fire, told Ral, Izzet Viceroy to sit in the sideboard and think about all the times he died the turn after I played him, and rotated Search for Azcanta  Flip into the deck so that I can fix my draw more often to keep up (seriously, so many two for ones...). I did not go 0-2 in any matchup, so I know the deck is close, just can't quite get over the hump. Gonna play in another tournament this weekend. Advice still appreciated!
