Sideboard

Trying to break Urza, Lord High Artificer in Modern by fitting it into a Karn, the Great Creator , Thopter Foundry , Sword of the Meek shell, where it goes infinite with the main combo of the deck and generates value if the main combo gets disrupted.

Only three Karn, the Great Creator and Urza because of 4x Board the Weatherlight and 3x Serum Visions to find them. Aether Spellbomb is an egg of sorts that makes mana with Urza in the late game, cycles, or bounces an opposing creature in the early game. This deck goes hard on Chalice of the Void , Trinisphere , and Ensnaring Bridge because those are all good and Chalice on 1 doesn't shut off that much of our deck. Trinisphere isn't a nonbo with Urza because you can tap it to turn it off using Urza's ability. The Relic of Progenitus in the main is actually to make room for Walking Ballista out of the sideboard as a Karn target, since Karn boards get tight and cycling Relic or Whir of Invention ing for it against Dredge is a valid option. Oboro, Palace in the Clouds , Inventors' Fair , and Academy Ruins are lands to hit off Board the Weatherlight . The 1-of fun-of Lotus Bloom is a Whir target.

Most of the sideboard can be explained as Karn bullets or singletons of main deck cards to find off Karn since 4x Whir makes running only 3x of the combo and protection pieces not as rough. There are three Damping Sphere s for Tron and extra hate for Phoenix, two extra Relic of Progenitus for dredge. Liquimetal Coating and Mycosynth Lattice are the typical lock pieces with Karn, but this list also runs Walking Ballista for aggro and as a way to win on the spot with infinite mana from the Urza combo after playing another Karn from our deck using Urza's ability, Wurmcoil Engine as a way to stabilize a sketchy board where Lattice wouldn't win the game, Expedition Map to grab utility lands, and a spicy Mindslaver to randomly meme people or to potentially lock someone with the 1-of Academy Ruins in the main.

Sideboarding with this deck is rough since its all bullets, which can potentially make things awkward when you run into decks where specific cards are are horrendous ( Ensnaring Bridge against non-creature decks usually). Relic is the most common "free" swap into the deck, followed by Wurmcoil Engine and Expedition Map , then it starts getting sketchy. Eldrazi is probably the most notable of these kinds of matchups, since Chalice and Trinisphere are awful in the matchup.
