The Way of Mardu (main and sideboard updates)

Standard Competitive Midrange RBW (Mardu)

Genesis26

Sideboard

Planeswalkers:

Sorin, Solemn Visitor - I can't say anything bad about this card even the -2 loyalty is useful. With creatures in play he demands removal, if you fail to do so standby as this deck just makes the opponents hope of winning decrease substantially.

Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker - Another you must deal with it instantly or the game gets out of hand. I will tip my hat in favor of this guy over Stormbreath Dragon any day of the week.

Chandra, Pyromaster - This card does not get as much respect as it should. The opponent drops a huge creature late game and Chandra will deactivate it's blocking ability. Then late game card advantage is beautiful.

Creatures:

Wingmate Roc - A very useful card. Dropping it on its raid ability is too much to deal with and is almost certain to gain life for you on the following turn.

Butcher of the Horde - Card is just a menace to society. Playing it on turn with Rabble or Hordeling Outburst is glorious. I even played it on turn 5 after Sorin who went -2 on turn four to swing for lethal.

Goblin Rabblemaster - Pumps itself for 3 mana and generates tokens.

Seeker of the Way - He is ok. I want something better here.

Spells:

Crackling Doom - Honestly, no creatures stand in its way. Maybe the best card of the Khans release.

Magma Jet - Deals with those lil mana ramps and weenie cards while giving me card advantage.

Chained to the Rocks - I do not use this card until late game. Using it prematurely really sucks (speaking from exp)

Hero's Downfall - Instant removal of planeswalkers and that beastly Stormbreath Dragon

Hordeling Outburst - Is worth every tapped land. Instant board advantage (unless you are playing aggro) and synergy is great with Goblin Rabblemaster Butcher of the Horde and Sorin, Solemn Visitor

Lightning Strike - Good burn to finish the game or remove 3 toughness creatures. Mantis Rider I'm looking at you.

Mana:

Nomad Outpost - Having this in opening hand makes the game so much smoother.

Bloodstained Mire - Fetch and shuffle for 1 life may save you in a game. I will most certainly get the mountain I need for Hordeling Outburst or Chained to the Rocks or a swamp to pull off that end step Hero's Downfall

Battlefield Forge - More often then not I don't pain myself with the mana pool I have. But it will get me out of a tight squeeze.

Caves of Koilos - See above.

Wind-Scarred Crag - Gain a life on a tapped land. Plus I like saying Inu-Yasha when I play it.

Updates Add

Mainboard

Remove

4x Nyx-Fleece Ram

Add

3x Seeker of the Way

1x Chandra, Pyromaster

With this switch I still have a chance to stay aggressive against midrange decks. From my last FNM Chandra really added to the fire and KA-BOOM a win.

Sideboard:

Remove

1x Chandra, Pyromaster 2x Glare of Heresy 1x Utter End 3x Drown in Sorrow 1x Hushwing Gryff

Add

2x Erase 3x Anger of the Gods 3x Nyx-Fleece Ram

The meta I observed at my shop last week makes my sideboard alter to look more like this. The deck that won ran enchantment creatures such as Courser of Kruphix having Erase will make for cheap removal of a good card. I heard the Jeskai aggro deck was pretty good and the reason he lost was because of his mana base. Hopefully, that guy got it straightened out and his deck will be in full swing. If so, I expect Monastery Swiftspear, Goblin Rabblemaster, and Mantis Rider to make their presence known, my response? Anger of the Gods

Nyx-Fleece Ram will allow me to Anger the field while playing aggro and not have to worry about creature presence going away. Plus it stops Siege Rhino in its tracks.

Any better suggestions?
