Sideboard

Maybeboard

Work in progress on an aetherflux combo deck. The goal is to trigger Aetherflux Resevoir By repeatedly cast low or no cost artifacts. If that fails, Crush of Tentacles can serve as a backup plan, clearing the board and creating a threat they have to answer. From my limited testing so far, the worst matchup is against decks with strong planeswalkers, especially Gideon. Artifact hate is also a big problem (obviously), especially Disposses. It is possible to win without Aetherflux, especially post board with Crush of Tentacles, but it is much harder.

Questions:

  1. I've seen a lot of people who are really sold on Key to the City but I'm not so sure. Is the card worth running, and if not what would be a better replacement.

  2. I've tried a few games with 2 copies of Traveler's Amulet and -2 lands. It is nice to reduce flooding, but the downside seems to be more hands that I have to mulligan due to lack of lands. Is that a price worth paying?

  3. I'm still considering splashing white for Fumigate. Are there enough aggressive go-wide decks to justify doing that?

Big Thumbs up to Tiemuu and the rest of the folks over at MTGSalvation for helping me turn my Janky mess into something playable. Still a lot of testing to be done, but I'm getting closer to a polished list. Sadly, Kefnet and Walking Ballista have failed to make the cut for this deck. They are strong cards, but just too slow for what they provide. Taking their place are a play-set of Inspiring Statuary and all the crazy Innovate shennanigans that come with it.

With Statuary back in the deck, Baraal's Expertise has gone from being meh sideboard filler, to a maindeck staple. Being able to cheat out a statue or a aetherflux is insanely good, especially vs control. Currently only running 2, but I may try bumping up to three at some point.
