Devoted Druid, the powerhouse the cell. Bout to lay out some next level Zef combos (upvote for obscure reference?):

Devoted Druid + Umbral Mantle + 1 Mana of any color: A creature with infinite power and toughness, but with just about the same amount of -1/-1 counters. So this accomplished nothing... or did it?

Explanation Show

The above combo + Flourishing Defenses: We now have infinite Elves. But elfs are dumb, why not go bigger?

Infinite Elves + Soulblast: You get those pesky elves out of your face, plus your opponent gets dead!

Infinite -1/-1 Counters + Fate Transfer : Whoops, looks like I have a really healthy creature, and you have a really dead one.

Now that we have an Infinite/Infinite we have a few things we can do.

How to tell someone they lost. Show

But what if my opponent picks up on my combo? Not like they just got decimated by it or anything...

Flourishing Defenses + Grim Poppet + Grim Poppet : More infinite elves. Not like we wanted them. You do need one other creature on the field to dump two -1/-1 counters on, but after that just keep adding/removing them from each other.

Dispel: When those pesky control players want to input their own opinion, but cry when they can't.

Dismember: Obvious removal.

Doom Blade: Cheaper than Murder

Dreadbore: Because they haven't 'nerfed' Tibalt.

Pithing Needle: This seemed like an obvious inclusion, just to stop someone else's combo.

I'm looking for a better sideboard, also I might accept some minor changes to the mainboard. Don't forget to upvote if you liked it or if you hated it. Any suggestions are welcome, but I am on a rather strict budget.

love the deck +1, however I know I remember the reference but I don't remember what it is from, could you help me out?

The Zef Combos? Thats a referance to Die Antwoord.

More dreadbores for broken modern staple tibalt. How are you going to deal with him and win if you don't have dreadbores? Otherwise, maybe use coat of arms for value.

Honestly, I wanted to run a full sideboard of dreadbores but that isn't allowed. And I never thought about Coat of Arms, although it's probably going to make it to the deck. Im having troubles with it running too slow because I dont have enough card draw.

For card draw, I would suggest ancestral recall to dig you into those dreadbores. More seriously, I'd recommend using something like harmonize as a two-of or maybe something like phyrexian area. Jace Beleren is also a criminally underplayed card in the modern format, and if you're looking for card advantage and draw spells, hes great. I understand not wanting necrotic ooze, but putting some in the sb against removal heavy decks to go off in one turn when the tap out after killing your combo could be great.

Ancestral Recall was actually in this deck for a bit, I had to take it out because apperantly "borrowing them out of some random pepoles' vintage decks" isn't allowed. And those other suggestions are pretty nice, but what should I take out of the sideboard?

November 5, 2015 1:06 p.m.

I'd replace Fate Transfer with Bioshift

Ah, just realised my error.

Don't mind me... it's a bit late here.

It's all good. Everyone I play this deck against locally suggests that I add a Hardened Scales.

November 7, 2015 6:20 p.m.

You should play hardened scales. Also, I've found storm crow very effective against lingering souls strategies. Maybe a copy or four in the sideboard?

Going for a Necrotic Ooze infinite combo may be fun. Especially if you throw in Quillspike, Thornling, and Pack Rat/Fauna Shaman. Quillspike pumps the ooze up tremendously with the Devoted Druid. Thornling makes it practically scary. with all the mana the druid makes you can get a huge trampling, haste, indestructible ooze. Pack rat makes an army of those oozes while getting the druid and others in the yard, where fauna shaman finds what you need and puts others where they need to be. Grim Poppet is an auto include in this decktype as well with the pseudo boardwipe it creates. overall the only expensive card in this suggestion is the shaman, but she can be replaced with cards like Sidisi, Undead Vizier, or Jarad's Orders

lordAKU Thanks for the suggestions. But I would rather not add a Necrotic Ooze combo, they are just seen too often. But Quillspike will be an instant addition. Also, thanks for checking out the deck and if you have anymore ideas, let me know!

It's the powerhouse of the cell, after all.
