Originally based on the Avacyn Restored intro deck "Slaughterhouse".. I liked the idea, so I wanted to keep the theme, though I've altered it a great deal in pursuit of making it's execution both faster and more gruesome (read: actually playable beyond the kitchen table).. I used this as a standard FNM deck for a while, and it generally went 2-2 in a control-heavy meta, but it was otherwise fun to play.. But after rotation, rather than totally disassemble it, I decided to draw upon my card pool to see what I can do to 'modernize' it & possibly make it playable in the modern format.. And this is what it looks like so far..
Most of the cards tend to fall into 1(or more..) of the following categories:
Those that require sacrifice; Bone Splinters, Fling, Altar's Reap, Bloodthrone Vampire, Tymaret, the Murder King, & Demon of Death's Gate..
Those that provide that sacrifice;
Typhoid Rats
, Gravecrawler, Butcher Ghoul, Reassembling Skeleton, Geralf's Messenger, Abyssal Persecutor, and preferably even the opponent's own creature(s) via
Traitorous Blood
..
And Those that provide benefit/punishment from all of that death..; Quest for the Gravelord(giant zombie token),
Skirsdag High Priest
(flying demon tokens..), Blood Artist(chip damage/healing)
...Then after all that, keep the party going with Gravepurge!
