The Late FRF Update (v6.0) —Feb. 9, 2015

Hai everyone, its been awhile but with the new addition of Dark Deal I decided to switch up things once again in this deck by running more mana rocks and card draw. I am too lazy to post all the changes so I will just give you guys a rundown of what changed.

To summarize, some defense type cards were cut in favor of more ramp to speed up the deck. Also, more card draw was also added so my hands can stay full in the event I don't get a wheel that refills my hand and for earlier in the game. The mana base has also been more refined with less colorless lands and also the addition of artifact lands for the newly added Tezz and for Molten Psyche.

I will now begin to test to changes to make sure they are to my liking and to see if more speed and less defense was the right call. Every update it always seems like I won't do anymore major changes but that keeps proving to be false. If this version turns out well then all will be left is to obtain Timetwister (nearly impossible for me), Mana Crypt (reprint this plz wizards), and Force of Will(another overdue reprint). But of course it seems as though this deck gets a card every other set that is extremely relevant so there will always been minor changes.

Well that's all this time folks now its time to RESET DISCUSSION! >:3

Nice deck, +1

Why not add, Jace Beleren For his +1 ability as it give card draw and deals damage when darw pain is out to help you.

also remember that the infinite card draw for damage might not work depending on the amount of players and the amount of cards left in your library.

Jace Beleren has probably been in and out of this deck at least twice, he is good but he is not as good as a wheel is. The main reason why Temple Bell is still in here is because it at least has a combo whereas Jace does not.

As for the infinite card draw for damage, the amount of players does not matter only the amount of cards left in the library, normally I will have more than enough cards to kill a person because no one usually has above 30 life if I reach to this point (unless Oloro is there) but even if I don't I can cast Time Reversal or Time Spiral (which I forgot to mention in the combo) to refresh my library as I will eventually draw into it with all the card draw and can even use Mind Over Matter if I am lacking the mana to cast it.

Thank you for the feedback! :3

(by the way you said +1 but you never +1 the deck but its ok if you forgot :3 )

Thanks for pointing that out, also i think that you may want more basic lands in case of cards such as Blood Moon as this then limits your options as to what you can do.

KieranBevan I didn't even notice your comment again. XP

Blood Moon is not a concern due to most of the people I play with use three or more color decks and don't usually run nonbasic hate. :3

Plus, fetch lands and artifact ramp sort out those problems most of the time anyway. :3

Similar to my own, although I tend to lean on Rooftop Storm for late game and with a Havengul Lich it trickles into near infite sac combos. The added bonus of playing the commander for 0 late game no matter how many counters it always nice.

Weirdhat says... #7

did you ever think of trying cards like Curiosity, there are 4 of them I think.

November 21, 2014 8:52 a.m.

FeedUsBacon rooftop storm doesn't let you keep casting nekusar for free...it only replaces the casting cost....general tax is an additional cost, similar to something like buyback or replicate. So you'll still have to pay all general tax for you to be able to cast nekusar

FeedUsBacon basically what PrestonShilling said, plus, if the cast cost for Neku gets to high I can always get him back with my graveyard lands or Yawgmoth's Will.

Weirdhat - I had them in here in the beginning but Neku and anything else I can attach it to never stays around long enough to fully abuse them so its basically a two for one as I have to bring them back sometimes and there are times when I don't even win with those creatures as there are more than one pain giver in this deck. Lately, I also had a few wins off of Waste Not from the sheer amount of zombies it produces and all the card draw and mana.

Thank you all for your comments! :3

Laboratory Maniac since u already have mind over matter and temple bell

Blizzicane says... #13

klone13 Laboratory Maniac is a unnecessary combo piece when I can just use my pain cards as the finisher. :)

Thanks for the suggestion anyway! :3

This looks like a fun deck, tbh. Although I am curious on how my Zombie/Proliferate theme deck would fare against this deck (The Phyrexian Undead Horde), mostly because it has an Omen Machine in it. What do you think? +1 from me.

D2Vincent

Well it is a fun deck to use but its more focus on winning as I try to minimize the advantage the opponent is getting which is why I don't run some cards other Neku decks do like Howling Mine as that card gives the opponent cards even when I am not bring the pain in favor of more wheels that can end the game when chained or when there are enough pain enablers down.

As for how it would stand up against your deck I would not know until I fought your deck. This deck is mostly meant for multiplayer but it can hold up pretty well in 1v1 (as long as the other deck is not fully tuned for 1v1).

Thanks for the comment and upvote! :3

Shoot I broke something just when I was going to announce the new and improve description. :C Bah I may have to fix it later as I am tired so anyone who sees the page in this shape I will fix it later as I have not yet identified where the code broke. :S

Price of Knowledge? you have enough ramp to get it out pretty early, and once it is out the opponents are on a pretty quick clock.

Urza's Guilt is always great

December 7, 2014 11:39 p.m.

Blizzicane says... #20

nnewbury9469 Too expensive mana wise and wheels and my other pain get the job done for less not to mention the fact that such a card would lead to the whole board turning on me before I can fully kill them all. Speaking of which I should add that to the list of cards I never want to see again. XP

Anonygod Huh I don't really remember that one... interesting... I may have to test that but I don't like the fact that I get hurt as well and also that I have to have both discard pain dealers and draw ones out at the same time but I usually have both out anyway. :)

But anyways to you both, thanks for the suggestions! :3

Blizzicane says... #21

Hmmm on second thought I don't really like Urza's Guilt that much after I realized that I had to discard as well in addition to the four I was already taking and all my wheels/shuffle effects seem to be better than it as well because they don't give the opponents a choice what to discard and they refresh my hand better. :P

I suggest

Sigil of Sleep - Extra removal, keeps creatures off you. Best mid-game when people finally decide to attack YOU.

Vampiric Link and Eternal Thirst - Give yourself more than cards. Once they turn their heads on you, you have to stay in the game.

Blessing of Leeches - 40 life in EDH is plenty. Flash Regeneration for 0 mana is useful.

Elder Mastery - If they don't want cards anymore, say okay and cast this. make people like the gifts they are given.

Archmage Ascension - With so much card draw, getting this off will be easy.

I run a budget Nekusar EDH deck. Check it out on my page for more ideas if you want.

kenara

Sigil of Sleep - the only one of these cards I will probably consider as I do not like auras in this deck due to the tendency of my creatures dying especially if I place something like this on Neku as it attracts even more attention but a one mana investment to bounce creatures is nothing to scoff at however another problem comes up when half the creatures I find in EDH have ETB effects and I don't have anything else to target. Additionally, I only have two creatures that can take up this card up and use it as the rest of my pain cards come in the form of enchantments so it can be a dead draw as well.

Vampiric Link - Same as above except less helpful because it does not actually get rid of threats.

Blessing of Leeches - Useful and is less likely to fall into the grave but I already have Darksteel Plate which protects itself and is reusable not to mention that Wrath of God, Damnation, and Terminate like cards are very real threats to regenerate which makes it worst the indestrucable in that regard.

Elder Mastery - too expensive for a investment in an aura that will surely attract attention as removal is real.

Archmage Ascension - As much as that is a sweet effect, three mana and six counters is a huge amount to ask for considering it won't do anything for at least six more turns after it comes out considering I only gain massive amounts of card draw on my turn. Whereas Bloodchief Ascension my favorite of all the ascensions only costs one mana and takes three counters and is extremely easy to go off because players are always taking damage whether it be from shocks or each other or me.

Thanks for the suggestions anyway. :3

Anonygod says... #24

Have you considered Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank ??

December 17, 2014 9:08 p.m.

Blizzicane says... #25

Anonygod yes I have but Mindcrank does not do anything major on its own and usually helps an opponent more than it helps until the combo comes out as usually everyone is running some form of recursion or has Elixir of Immortality or an Eldrazi or I use Time Spiral to shuffle back their library. :3

In other news I just noticed this deck got top rank in #74 on 2014-12-13 :D thank you all who viewed/upvoted/commented this deck!
