"So many combos, and they'r all great" -a peer review (check the "archive"-section for change log and discussion).

THE NORTH WILL RISE - INFINITE TOKENS, LIFE AND DAMAGE! Possibility to win turn 4. If you like it, please +1 upvote, and please do not forget to read all the description!

There is underlying Nordic-theme here. The good and god-fearing folk of Kaleva (white and green) fight the monsters from far North (black) but because of dualism of man there are also monsters within.

For example Rustic Clachan represents a typical medieval village at Tavastland, and Fiend Hunters are the traditional heroes in Kalevala.

And lastly, thank you so much stopping by, showing your support and providing creative feedback. I am changing the deck as much as possible based on suggestions and comments I get, taking into account how affordable the cards actually would be.

(Plus, sorry for adding Siege Rhinos, they do not fit the Nordic / Kalevala -theme I had in mi mind, but they are great with Undying Evil, Dying Wish and sac outlets that keep it bounching up and down, causing life loss and life gain :P )

EXAMPLE OF PLAY

Battleground:

Hand:

Your turn:

  1. Cast Undying Evil on High Priest of Penance.

  2. Kill him dead with Midnight Guard .

  3. Destroy target non-land Permanent and return High Priest of Penance to Battleground with a +1/+1 Counter. Untap Midnight Guard . Bronzebeak Moa gets +3/+3.

  4. Shoot High Priest of Penance again with Midnight Guard , and Destroy again target non-land Permanent. This time High Priest of Penance lives!

  5. Play Siege Rhino and cast Undying Evil on it. Bronzebeak Moa gets +3/+3 (being now 8/8). Untap Midnight Guard . You receive 3 Life and enemy loses 3 Life.

  6. Shoot something with Midnight Guard ; the enemy him self, or just his creatures.

  7. Sacrifice Siege Rhino to Nantuko Husk. Nantuko Husk gets a +2/+2 until the end of turn. Siege Rhino returns with a +1/+1 Counter. Bronzebeak Moa is now 11/11. Untap Midnight Guard . You receive 3 Life and enemy loses 3 Life.

  8. Declare Combat and Attack with (11/11) Bronzebeak Moa and with (4/4) Nantuko Husk.

  9. Depending on what the situation is, you can use Midnight Guard to shoot the enemy, a Creature he controls or simply Destroy yet another target non-land Permanent by killing High Priest of Penance. Also depending how the enemy blocks, you can Sacrifice literally all other creatures left ( Midnight Guard , Siege Rhino, High Priest of Penance, Bronzebeak Moa ) to Nantuko Husk to have her become big frikkin' monster.

  10. Rotating Siege Rhino twice, Destroying up to three target non-land Permanents, boosting Nantuko Husk + Bronzebeak Moa and shooting enemy with Midnight Guard multiple times over a turn are so strong moves that if the enemy had any Damage at all, you most likely won the game this turn.

...and all this for six Mana!

THE BACKGROUND

I had an old Knight deck I have been building around Darien, King of Kjeldor and Soul Warden. Just a little while a go I realized Midnight Guard wielding Viridian Longbow would combo with Darien and Soul Warden like nuthin' else out there. Made me think how I could support them?

This deck is the testing ground on what would fit the deck best in Modern! For starters, I took core cards away from my Black Goat of the Wastes deck and decomissioned it.

WORD FROM THE ARTIST

Please note my decks are always based on cards I have and own. I do not create stunning first-turn kill decks using cards in the virtual database just to show off! Instead, I work with cards actually available to me.

Suggestions

Updates Add

  • Removed Wolfhunter's Quivers (and placed them into sideboard because of coming of new Werewolfs). They were too damn expensive, and I had faster tricks in mi mind!

  • Replaced one Soul Warden with Pious Evangel  Flip who is better, because when saccing creatures (for free), enemy loses life and I gain life (for free) in addition to gaining life. In future I am gonna replace all Soul Wardens, at least I think so at this point.

  • Bloodflow Connoisseur is less effective sac outlet than Nantuko Husk -> replaced all two of them with Husks.

  • Added 2 X Dying Wish, which work very well with Nantuko Husks, because it can sac her self!

  • Added one additional Siege Rhino.

  • Also added Story Circle into Sideboard to buy time if needed--for example against Burn. It also fits the Kaleva-theme of story-telling.
