Sideboard


Penelope is a big monster deck with a lot of ramp and some helpful tricks. It is vulnerable against a deck with removal, or a blue deck. Many times, Elderscale Wurm has been my saving grace but if he is removed, all is lost. Swiftfoot Boots can protect the special creatures and my removal can get rid of creatures that would target my special creatures (Fall of the Hanmer)To be able to find the right creatures I need within my deck (either rampers, or big dudes), I have Signal the Clans. I include Quicksilver Amulet in case ramp isn't running smoothly.

The deck needs ways to speed up ramp and putting out creatures and it needs ways to stall.

Cards that speed me up:Primeval Titan, Whisperer of the Wilds, Birds of Paradise, Zhur-Taa Druid, Quicksilver Amulet, Garruk, Caller of Beasts, Sarkhan Vol, Domri Rade, Xenagos, the Reveler, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx,

Cards that stall:Elderscale Wurm, Bow of Nylea, Winds of Qal Sisma, Fog, Destructive Revelry, Skinshifter (with it's 0/8 plant transformation)

I've been play-testing Penelope for around a month. It's been able to pay for my 11 cost Worldspine Wurm with mana. The card Armed / Dangerous has been key in defeating a Simic deck that had around 15 creatures out, each with a handful of counters on them. It's fared better in 3+ player games because I have more time to ramp and get monsters out (unless everyone decides to target me because my creatures are the only big things or just the biggest things on the field)
