Portent wow. Own it. Completely overlooked it. The slow cantrip is some neat tech for this list.
Artificer's Assistant you are right. I threw it in for the cheap scrying but Proteus Staff is spicy.
Cryptic Command for obvious reasons I'm avoiding counter magic but this is a powerful swiss army knife. Good eye!
Archmage Ascension seen this in a few of your lists. Your pet card. Hard to argue with instead of drawing a card Demonic Tutor it's just without a proliferate strategy to add counters it's a big requirement to meet.
Ward of Bones this is one of my pet card. Works best in planeswalker/instant/sorcery heavy strategies.
Dispersing Orb You are determined to not play with creatures haha I'm going to seriously consider this if I end up cutting Hullbreaker Horror and Tidespout Tyrant but the cantrip removal they grant is too powerful. Show and Tell fodder in absence of Blightsteel Colossus. Awesome suggestion.

You could also add Rogue's Passage. Dispersing Orb could also work if you run Crucible of Worlds.

Dumpster Fire
Instant
Players play a Magic sub game using their Dumpster decks. Players who lose this game take 10 damage in the game in which ~ was cast. (A Dumpster deck may only contain non-land cards name Mudhole, Dispersing Orb, Razor Boomerang, Phyrexian War Beast, Obelisk of Undoing, Great Wall, Shinka Gatekeeper, Cyclopean Snare, Juju Bubble, Alabaster Leech, Chimney Imp, Scorching Spear, Cephalid Snitch, and/or Thermal Blast).
Make another card that encourages or cares about using notoriously bad cards that never see play

"So even if I missed countering something I don't like, I return it to hand, so I can counter it later. Capsize is your best friend in this deck, even if it is a bit boring. Just as Cyclonic Rift. I still have to find something cool and synergistic here."
I found Dispersing Orb, Blizzard Specter, Banishing Knack & Retraction Helix (so Ertai can do it himself), Galecaster Colossus, and Tidespout Tyrant so far.

So a question:
Certain boardstates of your opponents can break the lock, but they have some setup prior to the lock, and several can even evade all of the bouncing with Dispersing Orb/infinite Meddling Mages. Are you interested in those, or are we assuming opponents have nothing to worry about before the lock?

So I think I have a hole in your wall.
With the triggered ability of Sun Titan, your opponent can resurrect a Vanishing.
Yeah that's a card.
But anyway, when an aura is put onto the battlefield, its controller has to attach it to a creature. This does not actually target, and thus gets around your shroud. So they put it on one of your lock pieces and phase it out.
Other troublesome auras that could be cheated into play include Flickerform, Caught in the Brights, and Weight of Conscience. Meddling Mage can't name the auras, just the cards that put them onto the battlefield.
From a brief search, that's Academy Rector, Sun Titan, and Zur the Enchanter.
Wow I spent a lot of time researching and figuring this out, but I think it works. Tell me if I missed something.
I mean, you can Dispersing Orb away the problems, but from what I understand you want to avoid that?

Zaueski,
I do know a few terrible cards though ...
- Moonlace (though I love the artwork).
- Wood Elemental
- Aysen Highway and Hidden Path
- Dispersing Orb
- Takeno's Cavalry
- Razor Boomerang
- Camel
- Rakalite
And a few that could be fun(?) depending on the other cards in your Cube ...
And you just gotta run the Band Lands: Adventurers' Guildhouse; Cathedral of Serra; Mountain Stronghold; Seafarer's Quay; and Unholy Citadel

So someone playing Gaddock Teeg as their commander basically hoses your deck. That being said the only way I've come up with stopping your board state is not letting it happen to begin with, IE stopping Primal Surge. Every answer I can think of can be bounced by Dispersing Orb.
Side note, if someone was wanting a version of this deck that has a more clear Win-con. They could add Dark Depths combo.
