White Makes its Triumphant Return! — March 28, 2012

So guys, after the last FNM, in which I went 2-1 (Won against MBC and GWb tokens, lost to Haunted Humans) I decided that it was time to do some testing with my deck. So I decided to try putting the white back in.

I knew that one of the strongest cards in standard is lingering souls, it just oozes card advantage and provides carriers for my swords and great mortarpod targets. I also wanted a way to deal with aggro, I can keep them at bay for quite a few turns, but as my hand gets emptier they begin to overwhelm me, so I needed a powerful wrath effect. Enter none other than Lady Gaga herself, Elesh Norn, she brings a lot to the deck as usually it is quite light on creatures so making each creature +2/+2 has a lot of merit. So onto the updates for the list!

-1 Tragic Slip - Though I love slip, running 11 pieces of straight removal seemed 1 too many

-1 Viridian Emissary - mana search is good, but I'd rather have a lingering souls

  • Thrun the Last troll - With GSZ thrun is easy to search up, and due to his nature he doesn't die very often

  • 2 Entomber Exarch - these guys seemed good in theory, but in truth they are a little expensive for what they do.
