-1 Steam Augury
-1 Mountain
-1 Boomerang

+1 Drain Power
+1 Dream Cache
+1 Frantic Search
+1 Temple of Epiphany (better than a mountain)
+1 Into the Roil

+1 For using Melek, I love him and think he should be used more often. As far as suggestions go, I like Archaeomancer for decks that deal with a lot of Instants and Sorceries, as well as something that can flash Archaeomancer on and off the field, and if you have the dough to cough out, Snapcaster Mage is always a good idea in decks like this.

Love the deck! Good luck!

Thanks, I had forgotten about Archaeomancer , I'll probably drop Gelectrode for him. Snapcaster Mage is one I want, but I haven't been able to trade for one as of yet. Thanks for your suggestions.

As beardedginger said, Archeomancer is great if you can flash him in and out. Mana-wise, he's (sort of) an expensive Snapcaster Mage , but he doesn't cost half your collection in trades. :) Back to the point; consider the following cards for hijinks, flashing, and retriggering ETB effects: High Tide + Palinchron (infinite mana), Tamiyo, the Moon Sage (because of that ult), Boomerang (you can use it to protect your stuff or get double use out of things like Archeomancer), Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir (flash), Leyline of Anticipation (flash), and Alexi, Zephyr Mage (for more bounce). Taking stuff out of a deck is the hardest decision, but good luck. +1 on the deck so far.

I would prefer to not add in any infinite combos, my play group typically doesn't enjoy them.

Tamiyo, the Moon Sage would be a great addition, I am just looking for a person to trade me one right now. Exactly the same thing with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir .

Boomerang might be swapped in and take the place of Vapor Snag . I'll have to test it out and see.

Leyline of Anticipation really doesn't work the way that I wanted it to. I had it in my original version of this deck, but never received a benefit equal to the four mana it costs. At least with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir , you also get a creature and stop your opponents a bit. I don't think it currently has a place in my deck.

Thanks for the CnC!

Melek is great. One thing you can try is loads of instants and sorceries that produce goblin tokens (there are loads!) and then use Dragonshift as a wincon

I know that Melek often struggles to end the game so the endless goblin tokens + make them into dragons trick should work. Polymorphous Rush is another if you have big creatures or Hour of Need

ChiefBell Excellent suggestions, Dragonshift and Hour of Need are exactly what I would want. Could you suggest a couple goblin generators then, specifically ones that produce lots (I would rather 10 with one card instead of 2). Thanks for your time and suggestions!

102/99 cards in deck. You need to lose 3.

ataraxic89 Looks like I forgot to remove some cards when I added others in. The deck now reflects how it should be. Also just so you are aware, tappedout updated so the commander is now included in the card count even without being part of the deck list. So I was only two cards off.

Yeah, I just noticed that.

This deck is so god damn awesome.

setheroth666 Thanks for your kind words. Its still a work in process, but its fairly cheap and really fun to play.

I'll also be changing it up, I like to constantly test new cards to keep the deck interesting and make it better. If you know any cards that would work well, feel free to suggest some.

you can use Deadeye Navigator to flicker you 'mancer or snapcaster. i use mine in my edh deck to flicker things like Avenger of Zendikar and make giant plant armies for lolzits also good with things like Scourge of Fleets for a board wipe anytime you want one.

slurpiee says... #15

you may also want to consider Past in Flames

slurpiee Deadeye Navigator isn't really useful for me, I only have two creatures who would benefit from it. Past in Flames I would definitely consider though, I'll have to try it out and see. Thanks for the suggestions

I would recommend Blistercoil Weird as it pairs very well with dual casting as explained in the description of this deck TRIPLE CASTING. Elsewise, awesome deck +1 from me

I'd say Scroll Rack needs to be in here. Also, I would suggest Dream Cache for the same purpose. Frantic Search and Faithless Looting are incredibly useful in melek, though you might need more graveyard grabbers with them, like Mystic Retrieval .

Without Chaos Warp , more removal, like Curse of the Swine , more counterspells, some artifact and graveyard hate, this deck will never be very competitive. Too much goodstuff and not enough efficient instants and sorceries (No Into the Roil ??).

metuhs Although he is useful for Dual Casting , I won't be adding in Blistercoil Weird . He is unlikely to be extremely useful.

lakebottom Scroll Rack is a card that I've been looking for, sadly haven't found one as of yet. As for your other suggestions, Dream Cache and Frantic Search are both cards that I will likely be adding.

As for competitiveness, this isn't designed to be competitive. It's supposed to be a fun deck for multiplayer games. Typically I am not attacked while other people play down their scary stuff, then I can win after taking a couple extra turns and double damage a double/triple cast Fireball . That's also why I am running redirects like Misdirection rather than Force of Will , makes it more fun for everyone rather than just saying "NO" to each player until they get mad and wipe the floor with me.

Rather than a ton of sick nasty counters like force, running 4-6 cheapo counters (like Delay and Remand ) helps slow down opponents without becoming a target, much like Misdirection but for creatures. Also, Serum Visions and Preordain are better than Portent .

August 4, 2014 11:46 a.m.

lemmingllama says... #21

lakebottom I hadn't seen Delay before, I'll have to check up and find the entertaining ones.

Also the reason why I like Portent is because it can be used aggressively. I can shuffle away a control player's carefully scry'd cards, or check out the next three draws for another player. Probably it's most amusing use is getting rid of a Sensei's Divining Top .

Ever consider Galvanoth ? I think he wouldn't be too bad in a deck like this...
