Sideboard

I used to play so much Splinter Twin back in the day. I love the deck's tempo play style that is permitted to exist due to the ever-present threat of winning out of nowhere with Pestermite/Deceiver Exarch and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker/Splinter Twin. About a week after I told a friend who was new to Modern that Wizards would never ban Splinter Twin, the mad lads decided to do just that. I played one final local Wednesday Modern event with the deck, and then locked it away forever.

Recently, midrange has been on the rise thanks to the reintroduction of our old friend, Bloodbraid Elf. The format has slowed considerably due to the printing of Fatal Push and Collective Brutality. Twin preys on this type of meta, so it's time to head back in locked and loaded.

We don't have Splinter Twin anymore, but Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker will pick up the slack. We have some new toys such as Opt and Abrade, giving us cheap instant speed card draw and interaction. Search for Azcanta   lets us scary early in the game and provides so much card advantage later in the game. Blood Moon has been added to the main deck to help against decks that cheat on mana such as Titanshift and Tron.
