Sideboard

Extremely satisfying way to win as you imagine your opponents’ agony and frustration levels peak. Deck is competitive and can beat tier 1 lists without needing a “miracle” draw. Be wary though, if causing your opponent to dc or send occasional hate mail worries you, this might not be the deck for you.

Looks to lock the opponent out of plays through the use of various enchantments and the Enduring Ideal enchantment tutor spell. Note it is possible to resolve turn 3 or turn 4 Ideals which almost always results in total lockdown of the opponent that early in the game.

Strongest matchups are against midrange creature decks, burn, and mostly anything with predictable threats that can be named by Runed Halo or Nevermore.

Toughest matchups are against counterspells and Tron where we can board in specific disruption like Defense Grid or Damping Sphere. New addition, maindeck Luminarch Ascension is great against control and is a relevant win-con in itself.

Once you resolve Enduring Ideal, look to immediately place either Dovescape or Phyrexian Unlife depending upon which you believe will protect you more. Dovescape first if your life total isn’t immediately in danger, and threat of opponent going off or disrupting your enchantments is realistic. Unlife if you need an extra turn of life. Once both of those are down you typically follow with Form of the Dragon which combos with Unlife and wins you the game in a few turns. Note, there are still threats with dovescape resolved so you will need to consider if the opponent has Abrupt Decay(can’t be countered) or trigger when cast cards like Ulamog or Worldbreaker. For these, Nevermore will work fine. Also Overwhelming Splendor prevents etb triggers from cards like Reclamation Sage and stops Ratchet Bombs, Eng Explosives, and Ostones.

Overall it’s a fun time as you are essentially playing a mainboard chock full of various powerful “sideboard” cards in the strongest sideboard color in Modern.

For a U/W version see U/W Enduring Prison. I am currently playtesting the this g/w version to determine if the extra ramp improves the strength overall. Idea for ramp thanks to Saljen.
