Trail of Crumbs

Enchantment

When Trail of Crumbs enters the battlefield, create a Food token. (It's an artifact with ", , Sacrifice this artifact: You gain 3 life.")

Whenever you sacrifice a Food, you may pay . If you do, look at the top two cards of your library. You may reveal a permanent card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

@ Phule451 I've added some of your suggestions to my considering section and when I put a new card order in will be picking them up. I do feel like Trail of Crumbs is a lot better if running Frodo, Adventurous Hobbit and Sam, Loyal Attendant as the commander. This is because with Frodo and Sam there will be more of a tendency to sac food every turn.

Thank you for the comment and taking the time to check out my list.

Spivey deck! It’s a bit pricey, but I love the flavor of putting Teferi's Protection as it seems to me like slipping on the ring and disappearing. Speaking of that, Bilbo's Ring and Call of the Ring would serve to well. Giant Opportunity is a great payoff for food generation plus give you a fatty to go with all your littler tokens. Trail of Crumbs would be another good option here. Enjoy!

Remove:
4x Mortality Spear
2x Forest

Add:
1x Academy Manufactor
3x Binding the Old Gods
2x Boseiju, Who Endures

Also, manabase updated to reflect reality a little better.

I hate removing instants, but having crucial removal spells that can be found with Trail of Crumbs is important. It might be better to keep a pair of Mortality Spear in or go to 4x Wicked Wolf and replace the other three with Caustic Caterpillar or Green Slime, but testing will tell.

Thank for the suggestions! I like the idea of running Darkmoss Bridge over Jungle Hollow. Geier Reach Sanitarium is also a great utility land.

I will have to respectfully decline some of your other suggestions, not because they're logically unsound, but because I think they aren't any better than what I have atm.

With Street Wraith, The Underworld Cookbook, and Bone Shards, the deck has ten discard outlets that cost one or fewer mana. We only need to naturally draw one discard outlet per game to cast Asmo because she finds another discard outlet in the Cookbook on her own, and we want them to be as cheap as possible so we can get Asmo into play early. Taking that into consideration, Vivien's Arkbow is a very expensive (cmc-wise) discard outlet for this deck, and it doesn't yield any additional benefit outside of discarding a card unless you pump a lot of mana into it.

I also don't think Vivien's Arkbow is a good replacement for Grisly Salvage, which has three roles: one, it finds Asmo or Street Wraith if we have an Asmo in hand; two, it fills our graveyard, which is perfect for finding Feasting Troll King, Cauldron Familiar, and Ovalchase Daredevil; three, it finds lands (the deck is very mana hungry when it has a Trail of Crumbs out). I value these things a lot more than an extra draw effect, because this deck's biggest weakness is its tendency to durdle when it doesn't have access to a payoff.

Glaze Fiend is tempting, but I think it's too susceptible to removal. All of our game-ending threats are recursive creatures, so it's very hard for opposing decks to win the long game; thus, the deck is better off playing spells that help it get to the long game rather than try to finish it quickly.

Nice deck! Bloodbriar, Curious Pair and Tempting Witch might be useful. Looking at your deck, Trail of Crumbs and Gingerbread Cabin might be good in my Korvold, Fae-Cursed King deck.

So the Witherbloom precon was so-so, IMO:

Gyome, Master Chef: I never voiced it but I predicted that the chef would be Witherbloom when I read Cram Session 's flavor text, woo. (Although I only just got the pun on that card, ironically.) Anyway, EDH tries to get caught up with the ELD Food theme, but the support is still kinda lackluster; mostly the card advantage from Savvy Hunter and Trail of Crumbs . (Can the fact that Foods are artifacts be abused in golgari?) But hey, an extra excuse for Cauldron Familiar loops in our format for the purpose of triggering people's PTSD.

Tivash, Gloom Summoner: Meh. I'm all for more Demonic presence but this seems pretty boring. Kinda like a token-producing Aetherflux Reservoir . (Also, he kinda looks like Urza, or the Raven Man.)

Yedora, Grave Gardener: Well, this is kind of an odd one. Seems more at home in the 99 than at the helm? Turns Kadena into an extra copy of Grim Haruspex . Not sure if there's a good way of abusing it. Turn random manifested cards into lands? Resurrect people with Worldgorger Dragon ?

Blossoming Bogbeast: Obvious Pathbreaker Ibex comparison; MV 1 cheaper

Marshland Bloodcaster: Fancy, but watch that MV. Ironically perhaps, itself benefits greatly from being cheated out.

Revival Experiment: One of the few sources of noncreature reanimation in these colors

Ezzaroot Channeler: Pretty much green Marshland Bloodcaster.

DemonDragonJ: Maybe the wanted to avoid having the infinitive combo with Dina, Soul Steeper from its sister set? WotC does seems to dislike EB tho, seeing as SB already got not one but two creature equivalents in Defiant Bloodlord and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose while EB got none.

Would this deck maybe benefit from a Food engine? I know it's a singleton format, but Food tokens have natural synergies with Korvold and some of the Food cards are a bit stronger if you look at them through the lens of draw spells.

Trail of Crumbs, for example makes a Food token when it enters. When it gets sacrificed then it does a Sleight of Hand impersonation. When Korvold is out it now draws a card in addition to the trigger creating a Divination of sorts that has the potential to become a real engine later.

Feasting Troll King generates 3 Food tokens for 6 mana. If you sacrifice Troll King and immediately bring him back while Korvold is on the field then you've just built your own Opportunity except your draw 4 left behind a 7/6 Vigilance Trample.

Witch's Oven is a 1 mana card that gives you two cards off of every creature sac because you can also eat the food for a second draw. Cauldron Familiar is pretty underwhelming as an individual card in the format, but is probably worth considering if you go in on the food engine since it also continually draws cards once you've assembled a food generator.

Gilded Goose is a Birds of Paradise early that generates sac fodder to turn into cards late.

Anyway, I know Food has been a thing in Standard and maybe you're tired of it, but just a suggestion! I think the cards can be powerful alongside Korvold as long you think of them as draw spells that turn into engines later, as opposed to just focusing on how difficult it may be to assemble all of the individual pieces in a singleton format.

Not the most budget friendly suggestion, but I also think Dockside Extortionist is a home run card in Korvold decks.

I also think High Market is a natural inclusion in sacrifice decks as just an additional way to get the ball rolling sometimes. Here, for example, it sometimes reads ~~:Draw a card; on a land.
