Feasting Troll King

Creature — Troll Noble

Vigilance, trample

When Feasting Troll King enters the battlefield, if you cast it from your hand, create three Food tokens.

Sacrifice three Foods: Return Feasting Troll King from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate this ability only during your turn.

Cauldron Familiar is already in the deck. I had Feasting Troll King in originally, I will put it back in the maybe board for now, but I can't really see myself hard casting it very often, and alot of my other effect require less food to be sacrificed.

Cauldron Familiar and Feasting Troll King would be great additions. I have both in my Ygra, and they've won me games before.

Just a few more suggestions I've found while brewing:

Night of the Sweets' Revenge: turns all your creatures into mana dorks and is a good finisher if you've generated enough tokens.

Blight Mound, Golgari Germination, and Ogre Slumlord: other enablers for the Cauldron Familiar combo, and Ogre Slumlord explodes when you wipe the board.

Feasting Troll King: worse version of Cauldron Familiar, but can be a second line if you have three of the enablers like Camellia, the Seedmiser, Experimental Confectioner, Peregrin Took, or the others listed before.

Cybermen Squadron: because you should always have an unnecessary card that does cool stuff.

looks fun!

I might recommend Feasting Troll King could be fun, though the quadruple black is a steep cost. Still, it makes food and is a decent attacker and blocker.

Shelob, Child of Ungoliant is a fun food generator and a big threat, even if you don't have many other spiders.

Tireless Tracker is a good token generator that at worst will draw you some cards.

zapyourtumor i appreciate the suggestions. the deck used to have Lonis, Cryptozoologist in it a while back during testing and worked well but the card had no value on its own was a dead card more than not. i thought about putting a single Feasting Troll King in just so i could dredge it and have value. ill try it. The Witch's Oven are a necessity and i dont like to see hands without them. ill weigh some options on replacing an oven but im feeling against it currently.

When it comes to css and style sheets i have no idea what im doing or really how to start lolz. i just saw a post showing me how i could add the card name colors and the background image so i copied them. if you can give me some advice on how to make this deck list look better it would be greatly appreciated. im currently putting the styling into the description of the deck. but some of the things that i put in dont seem to work. have tried to make the panel transparent but its not working and dont know how to proceed.

Time Sieve is one of my all-time favorite magic cards

About the deck, I think you could definite from more threats besides Saga: Feasting Troll King is a classic one.

I feel like you could also reduce the number of Witch's Oven, since you can fetch it with saga (I'd run 3 tops), and maybe replace it with more removal like Fatal Push. It may be too cute but Lonis, Cryptozoologist might benefit from all the cauldron familiar etbs.

About the formatting, I suggest making the deck panels somewhat transparent so you can see the background better. I don't know if you're using a linked style sheet or doing it in the deck editor but the element that descirbes the panels should be .well, #deck-details so you can do something like

.well,
#deck-details {
  background: rgba(something);
  border: something;
}

Thank for the suggestions! I like the idea of running Darkmoss Bridge over Jungle Hollow. Geier Reach Sanitarium is also a great utility land.

I will have to respectfully decline some of your other suggestions, not because they're logically unsound, but because I think they aren't any better than what I have atm.

With Street Wraith, The Underworld Cookbook, and Bone Shards, the deck has ten discard outlets that cost one or fewer mana. We only need to naturally draw one discard outlet per game to cast Asmo because she finds another discard outlet in the Cookbook on her own, and we want them to be as cheap as possible so we can get Asmo into play early. Taking that into consideration, Vivien's Arkbow is a very expensive (cmc-wise) discard outlet for this deck, and it doesn't yield any additional benefit outside of discarding a card unless you pump a lot of mana into it.

I also don't think Vivien's Arkbow is a good replacement for Grisly Salvage, which has three roles: one, it finds Asmo or Street Wraith if we have an Asmo in hand; two, it fills our graveyard, which is perfect for finding Feasting Troll King, Cauldron Familiar, and Ovalchase Daredevil; three, it finds lands (the deck is very mana hungry when it has a Trail of Crumbs out). I value these things a lot more than an extra draw effect, because this deck's biggest weakness is its tendency to durdle when it doesn't have access to a payoff.

Glaze Fiend is tempting, but I think it's too susceptible to removal. All of our game-ending threats are recursive creatures, so it's very hard for opposing decks to win the long game; thus, the deck is better off playing spells that help it get to the long game rather than try to finish it quickly.

seshiro_of_the_orochi thanks for taking the time to look at this and comment! I really dig your first three suggestions. I’m not totally sold on Feasting Troll King if only because it’s 4 green in the cmc, I typically try to stay away from those kind of hard casts even if the “food” part works well with the deck. That’s about the same reason I have against Infernal Tribute for now as well even though it’s only 3 black.

I LOVE the Cranial Plating suggestion. That’s going in ASAP. I have a few I’m not using. I need to pick up an Underworld Cookbook.

I’m going to see how this plays before adding in Inspiring Statuary . I really like the suggestion but have another deck it can go in as well. Need to weigh out where it is more valuable.

Thanks again! Cheers!
