JUNDINALLFORMATS

JundInAllFormats

It's nice to see Jund still doing decent. I'm not if 4 Bobs is completely correct, especially if there's a lot of aggro, but the mainboard Batterskull seems to be a choice that a lot of decks are making.

This should probably be Modern. Unless I've missed some pretty huge changes.

I don't really like Grim Lavamancer, but it's up to you whether you want to play it I suppose. I would remove it for a 4th Scavenging Ooze. Dark Confidant can be detrimental with all the Delver/Burn decks out there. Have you considered Night's Whisper in its place? Same mana cost, and you have the option of not casting it if your life is in a precarious position. Bob will just kill you.

Dark Confidant is very bad right now. I'd highly suggest some number of Courser of Kruphix, the fourth Ooze and possibly Obstinate Baloth instead.

not sure how jund performs now with treasure cruise and all that now. You should look into it more if you plan on building this deck

I feel it is a bit wrong for you to boast a "1st @ Modern State Championship" in the title to help draw attention to the list when it was not even you who piloted or designed the deck. Often people only list a success like that if they accomplished it themselves, I could easily say something like "1st at PT 2014" though I only just began to run a similar list. To me it seems like you are taking credit for something you didn't do to help boost yourself even through that most likely isn't the case.

Nice deck, most of you seem to know about older formats. Take a look at my jund legacy deck and let me know whats what. The Legacy of JUND

@NateJH: Yea, I guess it may be a little misleading. Didn't think about that. Thanks for pointing it out though! :D

As soon as the list becomes less recognizable I'll remove the non-relevant stuff from the title. Once again, thank you for pointing that out! : )

Thanks for understanding, sorry if I came across as mad.

I think its great to see Jund in the modern again.

Drop one Liliana of the Veil for a Hero's Downfall. Possibly two if you're willing to lose an Abrupt Decay as all.

Overall +1 for trying to bring back Jund in Modern.

@DomRedhawk: Sorry but Hero's Downfall just really isn't playable in modern. It's too slow.

December 17, 2014 6:07 p.m.

DomRedhawk says... #15

It's an Instant....For the same cost as the Liliana I recommended you remove. How do you mean it's too slow?

December 17, 2014 6:29 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #16

3 cmc removal is FAR too slow in modern DomRedhawk. Especially for 2 coloured mana it its casting cost.

Abrupt Decay does everything Hero's Downfall will do and more. The only real planeswalker threat in modern other than Lili is Karn. But tron doesn't see as much play as Lili does in the all the decks she is in. Lili also deals with a lot more than a Hero's Downfall ever will. Removing 3-4 cards from their hand, sacrificing a few creatures as well. Ever heard of the Lili hole? It is where your entire game is being controlled by one Lili, and the other player just sits back and laughs as they hit you with one Tarmogoyf.

@Femme_Fatale: Thanks for the explination! I didn't notice the comment was there, so it would have gone unanswered.

Cheers for the explanation. Don't really play much Modern, started on standard years ago but mostly play multiplayer EDH now. Modern is something I'm considering getting into so that helps a bunch.

The main reason why Hero's Downfall doesn't work DomRedhawk is that there are hardly any planeswalkers in the format. And in a BGx build you are better off just using Abrupt Decay to get rid of Lili. Maelstrom Pulse is used mainly because it can hit anything, and also gets rid of tokens really quite nicely. Slaughter Pact is used because you can bait out their creatures by declaring that you are tappedout. Dismember is used because it doesn't matter what your mana base is like, as long as you have 4 life at hand. It also gets rid of indestructible or regenerate creatures. In a build that doesn't have access to green, they'd generally just use Thoughtseize or their own Liliana of the Veil to deal with Liliana of the Veil. That is the more in depth explanation to help you with your choices.

Cheers again for the indepth explanation of the current modern meta FemmeFatale, it'll help tremendously.

Will have a look in a minute Scorprix.

While on the subject, this was the deck I'd thought up so far. Would love to make it a real possibility. Any suggestions or advice?http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/moderngreen-deck-wins-yeah/

Why do you have Wooded Foothills and Bloodstained Mire? I would replace them with a Swamp and a Forest, because there are no Mountains in the deck, so it would just deal you 1 damage and fetch you another land.

December 21, 2014 5:34 p.m.

An actual change that needs to be made: 2 Overgrown Tomb, 1 Blood Crypt, 1 Stomping Ground. Black and green are your two most common colors, and playing multiple Stomping Ground is just bad. Here's how I'd construct the manabase:

2 Overgrown Tomb, 1 Blood Crypt, 1 Stomping Ground, 1 Forest, 2 Swamp

2-3 Treetop Village, 1-2 Raging Ravine (4 combined)

4 Blackcleave Cliffs, 1 Twilight Mire

4 Verdant Catacombs, 4 Bloodstained Mire

I like to go 4-2-2 on fetch lands in a trip-coloured deck. 4 Verdant Catacombs, 2 Bloodstained Mire, Wooded Foothills. Though this rarely matters if you're fetching for shock lands. Fetching for basics is another matter though.
