Modern Cabal Therapist

So, Cabal Therapist. This card has seen basically no play in any format since its release despite its powerful effect. It requires too much setup for what it gives you, and it's too easy to interact with compared to its big brother Cabal Therapy. Nevertheless, a brewer's job is to try, no matter how hopeless.

First of all, how do we even use Cabal Therapist? If you play it on turn 1 with no other cards, then at the start of your next upkeep, you can sacrifice it and name a card that you think is in your opponent's hand. Basically a delayed blind therapy that your opponent can kill with a Gut Shot, which is really bad. So what do we need to make it work?

The first, and most important thing we need is information on our opponent's hand. The most obvious cards for this are Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek. They give you hand information, they're on color, and help trim your opponent's options at the same time. Peek is a bummy Gitaxian Probe, but it's an instant, so it has some upside. Telepathy is a permanent Peek, but we don't cantrip with it, and it's at sorcery speed. Surgical Extraction and Extirpate give hand information at instant speed, but your opp has to put a card in the yard for them to work. With these options, we can use Therapist to at least decent effect. The problem is, why even bother? Thoughtseize + Surgical Extraction already functions as a sort of Cabal Therapy, and we don't need to wait until the next turn to do it. What advantage does Therapist bring over this? In short, repetition.

To be able to use Cabal Therapist multiple times, we need creatures to sacrifice to it, besides itself. If we play it on turn 1, then we need to be able to generate another creature before the upkeep trigger. Memnite and Ornithopter can work. Chancellor of the Forge works, but is a horrific topdeck later on. Thieves' Guild Enforcer and Zulaport Duelist have flash, with a slight upside, so we can cast them in response to the trigger ...and that's it. Pretty slim pickings unfortunately. Using this setup, we can play a UB dual, cast therapist, cast a 0 drop, then on our upkeep, cast peek, sac the 0 drop, and name a card. It's a three card combo on turn 1, excluding the land; which is just not feasible, no matter how many Serum Powders you're packing.

For after turn 1, plenty of 1 drops can work for different purposes:

So it looks like we can't really 'turbo' a cabal therapy, instead, we should focus on using some disruption on turn 1, then playing Cabal Therapist + 1 drop on turn 2. Then for later in the game, we can use cards like Lurrus to rebuy our creatures/therapists and keep the hand disruption going. Mishra's Bauble naturally fits with Lurrus and therapist, so it seems like a smart include.

If we want to go really deep into the meme Paradox Haze is an option.
