Footlight Fiend Discussion

Someone's been listening to Shaheen Soorani! I have a few suggestions though.
You need cheap spells. Hero is built on playing a lot of small multi-colored spells. Cards like Footlight Fiend are key here, that are tiny but still multi-colored. Deputy of Detention is also very good here; it helps you control your opponent and is multi-colored. In general, make your curve smaller so you can get more tokens.
I'd also recommend cutting some temples. Tappedlands are horrendous in this fast-paced meta, so 2-3 temples should be the max here.

A cool idea. I was going to do something similar with a third colour (black or red) to be able to cast Footlight Fiend (a red and black permanent for Faeburrow Elder) and something to access blue (Ashiok, Saheeli, or something).
Scuttlemutt is a much better idea.
A mono-green ramp shell splashing white looks like the best option. Paradise Druid, Leafkin Druid, Leyline of Abundance (a great use of infinite mana if you don't happen to have Finale of Devastation) and Nissa.
Stony Strength is great for untapping when you don't have the Gauntlets of Light. Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner is another option (and can also untap lands/mana dorks to help ramp into things). Maybe Rally of Wings is an option too; no flyers in the deck for the +2/+2, but it'll untap Faeburrow Elder and at least one other creature (the Scuttlemutt you tapped to make one of your permanents five colours).

Based off ambasador laquatus
Wahuva, Daughter of Laqauatus
Legendary Creature - Merfolk Wizard
Whenever an opponent draws a card, they put the top three cards of their library into their graveyard.
: Each player draws a card.
I'd like a 1 drop along the lines of Footlight Fiend in power level

I've been thinking about running a similar deck. The only thing I would suggest is maybe instead of Footlight Fiend I would use Banehound and maybe think about some copies of Midnight Reaper as well. It's an up vote from me as well

if the goal is a standard deck half of the cards you're considering would be illegal to use for the format (maybe not half, but a lot of the best looking ones).
Bishop of Wings and Divine Visitation are both rather strong combo'd together (in fact with a zero cost sac outlet they go infinite, but standard lacks one, unless comboing with Kykar instead of visitation in WUR colors with a 3rd card) and I suggest going to 4 of on each (or at least 4 of on the bishop, 3 can still work kinda on the other).
Now to make the deck stronger I'd suggest making large cuts on the non visitation 4 cmc+ cards, maybe keep 1 teysa, elendra, and 2 kaya's wrath and cut the rest of those expensive cards. (maybe 1 absolution as it can kind of shut down some decks I guess.
Now with all of that cut out I would suggest getting all the priests as she's a strong sac outlet, a couple Pitiless Pontiff would also help with sac outlets (with bishop visitation out every 1 mana you spend to sac any non bishop creature would make an angel token! Another great sac outlet can be from your removal Spark Harvest can be really strong, giving you value from your morbid triggers while removing a creature.
Now only 4 1 cmc creatures can be a bit light, Footlight Fiend is the first that comes to mind for me as there is just so many good early creatures that have 1 health, though landing is also quite good.
Spark Harvest is pretty good as nearly every deck runs some sort of high cmc spell that it will hit.
Blood for Bones I'll admit might not be the best card, but a single copy can be strong value.

I think Walking Ballista is kind of misplaced. The whole deck is centered towards aggro, except for that one card. Remove it and add a 1-drop creature. Something like a Footlight Fiend (I don't play a lot of modern. I'm sure there are better replacements there, but I have no idea who). Also, do we really need 24 lands when the most expensive cards cost 4 mana? You could drop 2 lands and still be okay. Add some Fatal Push maybe?

It might not look like it, but Pitiless Pontiff is one of the best cards in this deck. It essentially can block anything and survive as long as you have another creature, and against Stompy it was pretty damn good (not so much now, as Stompy is almost out of the meta).
Also it is quite good against Esper Control. These days they are playing Cry of the Carnarium more and more, but they still play a decent ammount of Kaya's Wrath , and the Pontiff is super resilient against that. It also allows you to blank a great deal of their life gain such as Vraska's Contempt , Moment of Craving or Enter the God-Eternals by sacrificing the target.
On the other hand, I did consider adding another God-Eternal Bontu . I'm not so sure about the Tithe Taker , my experience with it is that it's removed as soon as possible and the taxation effect didn't matter much. Finally the Butcher is quite good, but the 2-drop in this deck is super packed, I'm not sure is worth over something like Footlight Fiend . I think it's great in a Rakdos Aggro/Aristocrats, but this deck tries to be grindier and with a better late-game plan.
Thanks for the comment, I will definitely consider another Bontu! That card has been at least great when I played with it! :D
