Magosi, the Waterveil doesnt allow for extra turns. Its specifically says in the text "Remove an aeon counter and return it to its owners hand", not allowing you to use any extra counters on it. You cant even stifle it since the : is after the return to hand. Other than that, im about to playtest this

Athraithe that damn text. Ok it's getting cut then. Thanks for the heads up!

So i playtested, and its kinda hard to judge since i got a turn 2 Lighthouse Chronologist as well as turn 3 Luminarch Ascension, but meren, daxos, and ezuri really didnt perform. I also had turn 4 Authority of the Consuls and turn 6 Asceticism so you were kinda boned lol. But the experience counter people just didnt help... maybe take a look at my list? Atraxa stuffz. maybe itll help

Athraithe So cut all the experience counters? Your deck seems pretty competitive. Really like the Myojin use. +1

The experience counters didnt help at all. I would just replace meren with Sheoldred, Whispering One for a better effect. And i literally just created it like yesterday, it needs work lol, your contagion engine destroyed me. But yeah cut the EXP counters.

Athraithe Sounds good. Im taking Authority of the Consuls, Ghostly Prison, and Sheoldred, Whispering One Great suggestions!

Like this deck alot! +1 from me ;)

are you on a budget? of not, then you can maybe find a place for Doubling Season for extra extra counters on stuff or extra tokens

and also Deepglow Skate

I also think your mana base is a little slow, thats what I think. Have you checked out Tolarian Community College's video on how to build a four-colour mana base? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DSddyFCqPk

Still a +1 from me

November 10, 2016 10:24 a.m.

_SouLLeSS_ I would gladly out both of those cards in if they helped out with but unfortunately they don't so it would be an addition that wouldn't fire off as much as I would like. Both are insane cards though.

So don't put as many tap lands? Yeah that can be done.

Tolarian Community College is a great channel. I'm glad more people know about it!

Thanks for the great comment!

Nice deck and unique take, +1

I don't know that you need both Exploration and Burgeoning, there are only so many lands you need or can play without a ton of draw or filter, I'd think either Explosive Vegetation to pull any of the 4 basics you're missing or Expedition Map for a specific land would be more effective in the long run. Kinda more quality than quantity. Damia, Sage of Stone could be fun if you left in both land accelerants, or The Gitrog Monster. Either way, cool build, it got me thinking about least and as such a good quasi-archetype foundation.

Experience counters also stay, could consider tossing in a couple, Ezuri, Claw of Progress, Meren of Clan Nel Toth

Jimmy_Chinchila, check the archived comments, the playtesting of the experience counter people was too lacking in power

November 10, 2016 9:36 p.m.

Jimmy_Chinchila The three experience counter creatures wouldn't see play enough in the same game unfortunately. If WOTC would print more of them I would go back in a heartbeat. I was also thinking about Damia, Sage of Stone today so thats a great suggestion. What would you switch out?

Looks good +1. I bet Aether Revolt will have some awesome things for this.

November 11, 2016 11:24 p.m.

Delta-117 I cant wait! This might be complete different next year based just on that set. And hopefully C17 will have more experience counter creatures so they can be introduced back into the deck. But thats a long shot. Thanks for the comment!

What I'm thinking of doing for my own Atraxa deck is using lots of -1/-1 counter stuff in addition to all the other forms of counters with cards like Necroskitter, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Sheoldred, Whispering One, Demon of Dark Schemes, Grim Affliction, Black Sun's Zenith, Languish, Contagion Engine and Contagion Clasp. I will have tutors and what not to find Necroskitter, and your deck has given me the idea to use Confiscation Coup, Aetherworks Marvel and Demon of Dark Schemes which I have to thank you for that.

It's not going to be infect but it's going to use these -1 counters for killing and stealing cards. I had a Vorel of the Hull Clade deck previously and so I'm going to be taking that apart today to put a lot of its cards into the Atraxa breed lethality deck which I'm buying also today. It looks like it's going to be a great deck.

November 12, 2016 12:44 p.m.

Its funny you say that Delta-117 since that was my first though on an Atraxa deck. I like how you want to encompass into the -1/-1 deck. Here is my version if you want to take ideas off of Atraxa Master Of -1/-1 Oppression but it didnt work as well as I expected. So hopefully you can do something better. If you find something that works really well, be sure to let me know because I might steal it ha.

Have you considered some of the experience counter commanders from last year's set? As you proliferate your energy counters, you could also do the same for the experience ones. Ezuri, Claw of Progress and Meren of Clan Nel Toth could be particularly good.

santuli says... #19

Ah, I should have looked at the Maybeboard more carefully. But either would be strong. You have enough blinking to abuse Ezuri's ability, plus proliferate. And Meren is strong even without counters.

November 13, 2016 4:30 p.m.

santuli I really wanted to make the experience counters work. They were in their originally but in testing they would not last long enough to actually use. If WoTC makes more of them, they would be put back into this deck in a heartbeat. Thanks for the comment!

Are the 40 lands that necessary? I don't usually go more then 36. I'm running 36 on my walkers deck and seems fine, only use 3 ramp spells (Farseek, Skyshroud Claim and Nature's Lore).

November 14, 2016 3:01 a.m.

Litdaze I use the lands for Architect of the Untamed to get more . So lots of land drops makes more energy. Burgeoning and Exploration are the best ramp cards in all of MTG. So just look at those 4 extra lands as the ramp spells only cheaper since both only cost a to play. Also with all the card draw, extra lands get filtered out fast. Damia, Sage of Stone is amazing with both. Dump most of your lands every turn and draw more next turn!

Why no Tamiyo, Field Researcher? Makes Aethersquall Ancient less painful when you bounce everything back, and sets up an infinite combo with enough Proliferate and ETB triggers, and you run enough Proliferate to get her ultimate on entry.

November 14, 2016 7:06 p.m.

Benkei_Musashibo Cant argue with that. In she goes! Thanks for the combo idea! If only Tamiyo had as many printings as Ajani and kept up with those bonkers ultimate's. Who'd needs Jace then?

An interesting fact I found out about Aetherworks Marvel was that originally in development it was going to at first be a rare, and Multiform Wonder a mythic, albeit a little stronger than what we see now.
