Spiral tide, is a combo deck based on the blue instant called "High Tide". I am slowly building my version of it, but I'm shot on cash, so I try to make the most of what I have.
Here's what it's supposed to do, in case you aren't familiar with the deck:
You need to have at least 3 untapped islands under your control. It is possible to start the combo with 2, but it has a great chance of fizzling. With 3 lands, you doesn't have many chances of defending yourself against counter, so it isn't ideal, but it's possible.
First thing, cast High Tide. Taking 3 islands into consideration, you now would have 2 untapped, and those would be able to generate 4 mana. Your goal is to use cantrip cards (Brainstorm, Serum Visions, Sleight of Hand) and the draw cards (
Ideas Unbound
,
Meditate
, Time Spiral) to try and generate infinite or close to infinite mana. To do so, you can use
Retraced Image
to refuel lands, as many high tides as you can, so each island generates more mana, and cards that have land untap effects (Time Spiral, Cloud of Faeries, Snap, Turnabout).
So it would go something like this:
T3, drop land.
Tap one island: High Tide
Tap another island (generating UU): Brainstorm, Serum Visions
Tap another island: Cloud of Faeries, untap 2 islands
Tap island: High Tide, Sleight of Hand
Tap island (UUU): Snap targeting Cloud of Faeries, untap 2 islands, U remais in pool
Tap island: Cast
Meditate
, cast
Retraced Image
, drop another island
Tap 2 islans (6xU): Time Spiral, untap all 4 lands, draw 7 cards, put spells casted up to now back on library
Tap 4 islands (12xU), cast Palinchron, untap 4 lands 5xU left in the mana pool. Reutun Palinchron to hand with it's ability, U remains in pool.
Tap 4 islands: 13xU in pool, repeat process for infinite mana.
Infinite mana: cunnning wish, searches for Blue Sun's Zenith, casts targeting oponent, make him draw his entire library, gg.
Alternatively,
Cunning Wish
, searches for
Brain Freeze
, mill your oponent (palinchron provides infinite storm, but you could reach the 20 storm count with no big problem).
That's the general idea. I'm open to suggestions, and will be happy to discuss my choices.
