Mind Bend

Change the text of target permanent by replacing all instances of one color word with another or one basic land type with another. (For example, you may change "nonblack creature" to "nongreen creature" or "forestwalk" to "islandwalk." This effect doesn't end at end of turn.)

Mind Bend Discussion

Spleenface on Modern Sets/Bans ONLY cEDH Deck

There are a number of hacks and pseudo hacks that are legal.
Pseudo-Hacks are anything that draws off of creature spells, not sure if cards that are banned in modern are legal, but:

Glimpse of Nature (modern banned)

Vizier of the Menagerie

Beast Whisperer

Trait Doctoring

Spectral Shift

Mind Bend

The version I brewed kept completely dead cards to a minimum and can go off from Hacked Momir + Trigger + and nothing else (if all you pieces are in the deck) and it gets much easier with only 1 or 2 extra mana.

I would love to see a deck based on Mind Bend.

The best use I could think of was changing Chandra Ablaze to Blue, and dumping enough extra turn spells in the yard so she could ultimate again before the opponents' next turn (her ultimate doesn't exile the graveyard), and burn them out while discarding blue cards in an infinite turn loop.

Looked at both decks, Not much i can say with the bolas setup.. But, I kinda think the Scepter, Goes amazing in Pyromacer, or any Burn deck thats not Burn dependent. Manamorphose is a great card for the scepter. I have a Tap/Land Control deck I been workin on, and I run the Scepter with Mind Bend. Pretty cool card, Good Luck!

Her ability actually isn't draw a card off playing a land, but rather draw a card of a land entering the battlefield under your control. That's a crucial distinction for this deck. I'm not necessarily going for tier 1 here, I'm going for some goofy synergies with Life and Limb.

If I have life and limb out, and a saproling enters the battlefield under my control, that technically counts as a forest (a land) entering the battlefield under my control. Triggering Tatyova. If I have life and limb out with Arcane Adaptation (naming saprolings), then any creature enters the battlefield as a saproling, hence as a forest, triggering Tatyova. I could Mind Bend my Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to forests for life and limb, or have Realmwright or Prismatic Omen make all of my lands forests for life and limb. For the silliness of making all lands saprolings.

Those are some of the main pieces of the deck. Much of the rest of the deck plays into these cards. I'm confident that 44 lands will feel like enough with my general, though play testing will prove that. Not only will I be drawing with Tatyova off lands entering the battlefield under my control, but also off of any saproling that enters the battlefield under my control. That could prove to be a massive amount of card draw.

For example, if I have Tatyova, Sporemound and Life and Limb out, then I've created a mandatory loop that will draw my entire deck. I could play a forest, triggering sporemound and creating another saproling, which is also a forest, continuing to trigger sporemound. Every one of these saprolings will trigger Tatyova. I could draw my deck out with Laboratory Maniac, or end the mandatory infinite loop with Snapback. This is just an example of what I feel to be a goofy way to try to win the game. It'll be fun/funny if it works. Again, not Tier 1, but it should be fun to play.

I am already running many extra land drop effects, including exploration.

And Cyclonic Rift is a good addition to any deck haha, but my copies are in other decks. So I didn't slot it here.

Thanks for commenting! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

The Locust God + Beck = infinite hasty 1/1's

Traumatize + Keening Stone = complete mill

Chandra Ablaze + Mind Bend + 7 "extra turns" in the graveyard = infinite turns

So... Bad news is that there is a glitch on MTGO where Mind Bend won't work :(I'll try out the deck once MTGO gets their sh*t together!

Remember cards like Mind Bend can be used to change a lands type from one basic land type to another. For example, Forest can be changed to Island so it produces blue mana. It doesnt change the name of any permanent.

This works about 50% on modern dual lands. For cards like Godless Shrine, that aren't already an Island, you can make it a Plains Island, or a Swamp Island. For Hallowed Fountain, you can turn it into an Island Island. It's not as good as the other Islanders you have, but it doesn't die to Engineered Explosives-type effects.

I bring this up mostly because you could probably run Blood Moon, and change the text so it reads "Nonbasic lands are Islands". Or sideboard Mind Bend against decks that run Blood Moon.
