The Vedalken have united their knowledge from across the planes. Engineers, artificers, and grand architects work tirelessly to produce terrifying engines, living weapons, and platinum constructs. Their mission: to claim their rightful place in Modern!
Note: the price is absurdly high because of all of the foil promos I threw in to make it feel as powerful as it is. The actual (non-promo) version of the deck is around $435.
I compiled a budget (<100$) version of the deck that works pretty well: Vedalken Society (Budget)
The Admin
Grand Architect , Project Lead - Tap him the turn he comes out plus two other blue creatures and presto! Wurmcoil Engine s for days! He can also make your Sphinx Summoner s a serious threat elf-lord-style!
Chief Engineer , Second in Command - One mana less and able to make your creatures tap for colors rather than just colorless, but no buffs.
Etherium Sculptor , Hired Labor - These guys work overtime: first they reduce the cost, and then they tap to pay for the remaining cost. Very fast.
The Army
Master of Etherium , Commander in Chief - This guy leads your army of whirring contraptions to siege on the enemy, pretty self-explanatory.
Duplicant , Assassin - What's better than a clone? A clone that kills what it copies!
Platinum Angel , Life Insurance - This gal gives you peace of mind while curb-stomping your opponent.
Wurmcoil Engine , WMD - This bad boy ain't no toy, but you sure can use him like one; if he dies, he just makes even more of himself!
Sphinx Summoner , Quartermaster - This guy fetches what you need to survive before swooping in for the kill.
Phyrexian Metamorph , Jack of All Trades- Need a second Wurmcoil Engine , Vedalken Shackles , or even Darksteel Citadel ? Coming right up!
The Support
Batterskull - This weapon is so bad ass it doesn't even need anyone to wield it! Just hit the ignition and watch it fly!
Vedalken Shackles - This is the reason for the slightly wonky mana-base and no splash white. The more islands, the merrier!
Stoic Rebuttal - Half the time it's a Counterspell , the other half the time it's a Cancel . Either way, you're countering their spell. No way for them to weasel out of it.
Inquisition of Kozilek - creature and artifact hate are no fun, let's just put those in your graveyard, shall we? Could just as easily be 4x Thoughtseize , but paying two life to usually pick the same option anyway (0-3 cmc removal) is pointless.
Honorable Mention
Seat of the Synod - banned from their homeland, the Vedalken seek new grounds to settle.
Ethersworn Adjudicator - Either splash white and a couple of these guys, or keep the islands for Vedalken Shackles , but don't try to run both. Besides, they kinda do the same thing, but shackles is cheaper.
