Modern Black Devotion

This deck wins by:

• Controlling the enemy's hand with Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek

• Employing the kill spells Fatal Push and Tragic Slip to dominate the board

• Exiling key cards and combos with Surgical Extraction

• Attacking with Dauthi Voidwalker, Bloodghast, Phyrexian Obliterator and Gifted Aetherborn (the later two can also serve as deterrent blockers)

• Doubling enemy lifeloss with Bloodletter of Aclazotz. His ability stacks with multiple copies

• Generating great amounts of mana with Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx

• Stealing a critical spell or creature with Dauthi Voidwalker's ability

• Speeding up plays with Village Rites, especially on Bloodghast or a dying creature

• Letting Gray Merchant of Asphodel do what he does best

The Sideboard has answers to common meta threats:

• Extra control, removal and discard

• Tokens and aggro killers in Ritual of Soot and Ratchet Bomb

• ETB and Graveyard counters in Torpor Orb and Relic of Progenitus

• Another Gray Merchant of Asphodel for a second devotion based finisher
