These are my favorite pieces of art that happen to be on a Magic card.

My favorite visual art usually is calm, elegant, and/or epic. Think Alphonse Mucha, Piet Mondrian, J.M.W. Turner, Mucha again, Henri Toulouse-Latrec, Honore Daumier, Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema.

Most of the Magic art that I like has echoes of those artists, while still being uniquely MtG.

For example, take Terese Nielsen (my favorite MtG artist). Her Visions of Beyond has echoes of Mucha in the figure and Hokusai in his thoughts, and I love that she is able to meaningfully Call to Mind resonant art while giving it new meaning in the context of MtG.

If you own one or more of these cards, especially a foil or non-English version, I'd love to hear about it. In general, I'm always happy to spend some spare cash on pretty art, though I can't always afford it!(:
