Turquoise waves lined with white foam roared as they crashed against the basalt cliffs of the island. The air was salty and smelled of the sea. Ailia stood firmly at the cliff's edge. She let her eyes close as she sought guidance from Kruphix through prayer. "Please Kruphix, mighty God of land and sea, give me a sign. Darkness has come to Theros and all that is good is in danger." Her words were but a whisper against the clamor rising from the waves below. Ailia stood as gusts of wind pushed against her, sending her coarse braids into waving strands. She pressed back, allowing herself to become one with the elements of her precious world. Her ears perked as something interrupted the calming drums of the crashing tides. As she opened her eyes her breath halted. Where the ocean floor dropped off and the water grew deep blue an entire ship was about to be capsized. Fishermen were scrambling across the deck in a flurry of confusion. Ailia thought to herself they must be crazy to be fishing in such weather to begin with. But these waves were something out of the ordinary. The types of waves you only see in nightmares as they crash over you just before you wake. Her eyes squinted, and jaw dropped as as her hand moved to cover her mouth in astonishment. Before her eyes an enormous leviathan broke through the ocean's surface. The beast looked to have a rubbery skin on its face and two long tendrils like a catfish. Each scale was as big as the ship itself. But the most awe-striking feature of this creature was it's gaping mouth. In all her life Ailia had never seen anything like it. Ocean poured into it like filling up a bucket. And in an instant the ship and all of it's occupants vanished beneath the sea. Kruphix had sent his message. Kiora's leviathans were here. TBC
