Kitesail Apprentice

Creature — Kor Soldier

As long as Kitesail Apprentice is equipped, it gets +1/+1 and has flying.

Some thoughts:

  • Running the full playset of Puresteel Paladin feels pretty important here

  • A lot of your creatures feel pretty slow/clumbsy, and not particularly designed to work well with equipmemt. From my experience, equipment decks need to hit hard & fast. I’d recommend the likes of Goblin Gaveleer and Kor Duelist. Other options include Kitesail Apprentice and Armament Master.

  • too much of your equipment has too high a mana cost, i’d recommend just playing equipments that cost 0-1 mana to cast, with a few 2cmc equipments as the absolute maximum for mana cost.

  • your current land count is imo too low, though will work out fine if you manage to lower the curve as suggested above (your deck as it stands probably wants 22-23 lands).

I've run something similar competitively on mtgo as a 7tix list. there are a few cards I would highly recommend that fit your budget. Toolcraft Exemplar solid turn 1 and very aggressive, first strike in the late game helps. Stone Haven Outfitter lord and card draw, one of the best turn 2s i had outside of paladin. Kitesail Apprentice only think better than double strike is evasion. this little guy has often been my win con Dispatch path to exile but better in these lists.

ive found deck like this offen struggle againt high numbers of removal spells, having a few cards that are both equipment and creature really can help in the long game Flayer Husk

ive also found Captain's Claws to be viable in the past as well.

my list for on the off chance its useful Arm the legion

I'd encourage you to consider making this a more midrange-y deck, trying to outlast aggro with a sideboard to withstand control. I organized my suggestions by matchup so that you can decide what might fit best in the meta you're up against.

Whirza: Only Disenchant can hope to save you.

Creature-Based (humans, hardened scales, etc.): Godsend is a massive rattlesnake, Sword of Fire and Ice can kill a surprising amount of things, Novice Knight can eat a surprising amount of things, Leonin Den-Guard can block SO many things, and Kitesail Apprentice can get above most decks in modern. Worth noting that Stone Haven Outfitter can make trading just awful for your opponents. Path to Exile is kind of a necessity as well.

Removal-based (the rock, azorius control, etc.): Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are decent protection, and Stone Haven Outfitter to make opponents hesitant to kill and to pump everyone, thereby forcing the opponent to bite the bullet, kill your fellas, and lose the card advantage.

Burn: Basilisk Collar and Sunspear Shikari just gain big life.

Tron: Hedron Blade . No, I am not joking. Find your least relevant creature, trade it for the opponent's Wurmcoil or huge Eldrazi or etc. Definitely not ideal but tron is a tough matchup, especially in no-land-destruction white. Path to Exile is also really good in these matchcups.

You by no means want to include all of these, I understand that under half of these are likely to be relevant. But find the ones that are, and seriously consider incorporating them.

You might want to lower the number of CMC 3 creatures in favor of more aggressive options. Auriok Glaivemaster and Kitesail Apprentice would suit your deck really well.

Kitesail Apprentice would be a good fit with this deck. Shuko would be another cheap piece of equipment.

Flame Slash > Bombard & Lightning Strike > Burn the Impure .

Maybe more creatures that get bonuses from equipment? Kitesail Apprentice , Kor Duelist , Auriok Glaivemaster , etc.

Check out $5 Kor Equipment for some other ideas.

Armament Master, Kitesail Apprentice, and Path to Exile should be full 4-ofs. Maximize your deck's threats and answers.

-

A set of Mutavault looks great here:

You have plenty of basics. A set of colourless lands won't cause much harm. Going up to 22 lands would be ideal.

-

Shuko seems crazy efficient for this deck. It allows any of your Kor's equipped abilities to be active for no additional costs, and can be freely reequipped as needed.

-

While he's a clunky 4-drop that doesn't aid with the Equipment plan, I feel it's worth mentioning Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants. Your deck's low cost creatures gives his -2 ability plenty of targets to choose from for reestablishing a threat on the table.

Probably not terrible as a 2-of if you're ever looking for late game top-end against the slower decks.
