After testing with the deck, I have noticed that mana was actually the least of my concerns. Early game consistency was the problem. I hoped to improve this by adding 4x Scaleguard Sentinels so if the ramp doesnt happen as early on as I would normally hope for, I at least have some sort of threat/blocker to get me started, depending on the matchup.
I also had long forgotten about a present DTK gave decks like these with extremely high creature densities: Shaman of the forgotten ways! (forgotten indeed)
This card is extremely powerful in this deck. It is an early game body and the turn after it comes out could ramp you to more mana than you know what to do with. Not to mention the formidable ability can become relevant with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx in grindy matchups.
I have taken out Xenagos, God of Revels. He did not seem to do enough except when he was hit with See the Unwritten and even then I usually just wanted another dragon. Yes, he can be explosive, but the main reason he was in the deck was for haste and now that I have added Dragonlord Kolaghan there is simply no need for him anymore. I have also adjusted the manabase to accomodate all 5 colors for him and Dragonlord Silumgar.
I think this will end up making the deck more consistent in what its goal is. Kind of ironic that adding the fifth color doesn't seem to hurt as of yet. Not quite sure what to do to the sideboard yet after these changes, so I will leave it for now.
Your thoughts on my changes? Any and all criticism and/or praise is welcome =]
