Why Thing in the Ice
?Simple Timmy, with a
Birds of Paradise
on the board turn 1 and Thing in the Ice
turn 2, you have 1 Mana open for a Spell Pierce,
Vines of Vastwood
, or Blossoming Defense to protect your Thing.
"But that only takes one ice cube off your dong."
Good point Timmy, but come turn 3 you typically have enough pump spells, or even protection spells, to de-ice your Thing, and free your giant willy! Best part, they have no blockers Timmy! You literally just slam a 21 power pickle into your foes face or kiester. But remember Timmy, always use protection or Willy will die when you free him.
"But why Cryptic Serpent?"
Also simple, Timmy. Let's say you flipped your thing and only got in for 7-17 damage and your opponent is somehow still alive. Or mayhaps they chopped off your thing, and left you with a void in your life. Well at this point, you already have 4-5 pump spells, protection spells, or counter spells in your graveyard. That means you can strap on your Cryptic Serpent for 2 Mana, and start blindly swinging your snake at whatever hole you feel like devastating with a 6/5 prosthetic Thing in the Ice
replacement.
