NOTE: I have been converted. Here's the deck I've gone with for at least until Pro Tour BFZ:

Standard Rg Aggro BFZ 2.0

Standard ReverendMak

SCORE: 1 | 702 VIEWS | IN 1 FOLDER

Theorycrafting a week one BFZ deck for testing. Basically, a sligh deck that rewards going wide. Anger of the Gods, Bile Blight and Drown in Sorrow are gone, so a token-based aground deck should do well at the beginning of this new format.

14 one-drop red creatures so a fast start is guaranteed. 8 two-drop creatures and 6 3-drop creatures all aimed at either going wide or gaining some special advantage.

Turn one we have access to 16 enter-untapped sources of red mana, and 7 enter-untapped green sources. By turn three, we have access to 19 sources of red and 12 sources of green, provided that turns one and two we played or fetched basics. This substantially guarantees we can play a red one-drop on turn 1, a two-drop or 2 one-drops on turn 2, and have the mana to cast any of our green instants or our one double-costed red spell by turn three.

For an alternate take on the archetype, see my other Rg aggro decks:
