Custom Categories —March 13, 2017

I've added Custom Categories so that people can see what role each card fills. Made a few minor adjustments to the deck:

I've taken our both Cultivator's Caravan and Skysovereign, Consul Flagship. It was the crew 3 that was problematic. Sram is unable to crew them if he doesn't have any buffs. If he does have buffs, I should be swinging with him for Commander damage as opposed to the vehicles. The other 2 vehicles stay in because they are crew 1 and are quite efficiently costed for what they do.

I put Avacyn, Angel of Hope back in. Yes, she's expensive but she can be a game-finisher in the deck by protecting all the equipment. Basilisk Collar and Steelshaper's Gift have been added to the decklist (though I'm waiting until March 17th to pick up Basilisk Collar when the Modern Masters version will be available at a lower price).

Osbert I've added both Khemba and Armory Automaton. Thanks for the suggestions :)

A friend of mine has the deck up and running, and it usually kills via commander damage very quickly. After playing against it with a myriad of decks, I've identified some cards that you might need depending on your meta. I will suggest Assault Suit again, but I think that's just because my girlfriend's favorite deck is Meren of Clan Nel Toth and a recursive Fleshbag Marauder ruins the deck. Grand Abolisher seems pretty key as after you suit up a creature, a simple removal or bounce spell also makes it hard to work. Lightmine Field and Silent Arbiter keep the heat off you while you assemble your gear. If you run more enchantments (like my friend's deck), Replenish is an auto kill. Inspiring Statuary turns all of your equipment into mana rocks, which is SOOOOO broken, as tapping an equipment does nothing to it... Makes me remissness the days where tapping an artifact turned it OFF. Lastly, I suggest running Torpor Orb as most artifact/enchantment destruction effects come in on a creature (looking at you, Bane of Progress) That's all I have for you right now.

I would consider putting in Stoneforge Mystic and Dispatch. Sword of War and Peace seems very reasonable. Also, any card that makes it so you have no maximum hand size, such as Reliquary Tower, Venser's Journal, Thought Vessel, Library of Leng.

AiryNeon, thanks for your feedback. I am slowly building up my "equipment matters" staples. I don't yet own Stoneforge Mystic or Sword of War and Peace but they would definitely go in when I get them.

I could definitely put in Reliquary Tower since it only takes up a land spot and I sometimes have more than 7 cards in hand.

Osbert, thanks for your other suggestions. Those are all great protection/pillowfort cards. I would include them if I was shifting the deck in that direction. As for Assault Suit, I would include it if recurring sacrifice effects saw more play in my playgroup. It doesn't come up a lot.

In this iteration of Sram, I'm still inclined to disagree that Stoneforge Mystic warrants an inclusion. Sram wants those tasty cast triggers, not to be able to trick equipment into play. There isn't anything Stoneforge does that Steelshaper's Gift doesn't do better and for a fraction of the price.

punchdrinkcry, interesting! that's true that cheating them into play would mean Sram's card draw doesn't trigger. That makes me second guess Taj-Nar Swordsmith too. I think I'll still include Stonehewer Giant though since both cheating into play and equipping for free is too much value to pass up.

MegaMatt13, free equips are cool, but I've found that Stonehewer Giant works better with higher-end equipment, your Swords of X, Y and Z and Jittes. Getting to equip an Empyrial Plate or something similar for free doesn't seem especially valuable. Additionally, Stonehewer Giant shines best when it's already declared as an attacker, so you lose even more value equipping Argentum Armor, Inquisitor's Flail and Sword of the Animist because they all miss their attack trigger.

Run Sigil of the Empty Throne because of it's hilarious combo with Flickering Ward. Also, because it helps make all of your auras that much better.

If you're running Sword of Kaldra, you may as well run Helm of Kaldra and Shield of Kaldra too! They're decent on their own and seeing Kaldra assembled is a thing to see, and v e r y fun to accomplish!

So my 2 cents, a.k.a. my suggestions:

~Bruna, fading light. If only to make Brisela, because a voltron brisela sounds like hell to do anything about...

~Conviction! This new Enchant-Aura from Aether revolt is amazing with this deck: W1 to cast give creature +1/+3, then pay W and bounce the enchant to hand. Is the creature being destroyed, bounce the enchant...need card draw: bounce and recast for WW1. Great card
