Playtesting Adjustments —March 8, 2017

The deck is fun to play and packs quite a punch. Even when equipment is destroyed, it easily replaces itself with sram's drawing. A few adjustments:

The midsized angels work great as beaters especially after sram gets hated out of play. The massive angels however felt too clunky in the deck. Avacyn and Akroma are fantastic creatures in a lot of decks but this deck wants to be more nimble. 8 CMC was just too high. They have both been cut.

Also, tapped lands have been cut (except for Emeria). They slowed down the tempo too much for the value they gave. I replaced myriad landscape with a Plains and forbidding watchtower with Blinkmoth Nexus.

Armory Automaton, Khemba, Kha Regent, and Puresteel Paladin have been added based on feedback. I also decided to spend some cash on Batterskull and Sword of Feast and Famine, two equipment I've wanted for a while.

31 spells that draw off Sram seems super light. My list runs 50, but it is strictly a combo deck and in exactly 100% less fun spirit than your list. That said, I'll suggest Puresteel Paladin, Sram's Cheerios pal, and Alhammarret's Archive from my 99 to double up on draw triggers, as well as Kor Spiritdancer for your 99. Having any two of Sram, Puresteel and Spiritdancer with the Archive up draws a butt load if we can find a few less exciting things to cut for cards that cantrip with your commander. One entire butt load.

Also, Sword of X and Y sounds like a magical weapon that does algebra and it made me laugh, so you get an upvote from me.

punchdrinkcry, thanks for the suggestions. I hadn't thought of alhammarret's archive. I think it would be great. Along similar lines, Strionic Resonator may be worth throwing in too.

Puresteel Paladin I am waiting to see if it gets reprinted in modern masters. It recently spiked in price and is now coming back down.

The algebra sword is coming to get you :)

Oh man, I suck at math. That thing is gonna kill me dead.

Once Mox Opal gets banned in Modern (and it had better get banned), Puresteel will tank back down to where it was.

Resonator might not be very good. One extra draw trigger for two mana isn't the kind of value Sram wants. I think you'll find that Archive gets you there plenty.

I saw that you popped over to take a look at my way less fun Edifice Complex: Sram EDH list. Thanks for the upvote. :)

punchdrinkcry: I've thought about what you said regarding having 31 potential Sram triggers. I don't think I'll ever get up to 50 but I think I can get the number higher. I've added a bunch of cards in my maybeboard that interact with what Sram is trying to do. I think I can cut down on ramp spells like Pearl Medallion, Knight of the White Orchid, and Hedron Archive because the deck has a low average CMC and I will be drawing into my land drops quite consistently.

I agree. I think, considering that most of your spells are colorless, that Pearl Medallion is borderline worthless. Knight of the White Orchid is the man, but he's strictly worse than Puresteel Paladin or even Leonin Shikari if you're weighting more toward artifacts than auras. I do think that's where Sram is better, just because their cost is so much less prohibitive and you can reduce them with Cloud Key, Helm of Awakening or even Semblance Anvil if you want to get greedy.

With you 100% on Hedron Archive. There are no times where I draw it that I would not rather have a Thran Dynamo. Do Sram's Expertise, Auriok Edgewright, Nahiri, the Lithomancer or Kor Duelist do anything in this list? Giving dudes double strike is cool if you're an aggressive list, but Sram trends more toward combo and one-shot commander damage. Maybe we could look for cuts there?

Odric, Lunarch Marshal could find a place here...

On manlands and vehicles:

Unfortunately Auras and Equipment will fall off them when they stop being creatures. Enchant Creature auras like Armored Ascension will have an illegal target when the enchanted creature stops being a creature.

hubatish, thanks for pointing that out. I made a mistake when writing out the description and forgot to edit it.

I still think it's valuable to keep vehicles and manlands in the deck, even if it means re-equipping them next turn. They've allowed me to keep the aggro going when Sram gets hated out of play

I totally agree, they can be a good back-up plan. And you don't lose much with cantripping vehicles and your manabase!

I threw him together recently and have been enjoying it: Mono W Equips. Not actually a great example yet, but drawing some suggestions from your deck too! After playing deck once, Sigarda's Aid actually looks great for the auto-equip.

I think you could have more interaction in the deck. With Sram giving you a good card draw engine, you have a little more time to cast wraths and removal spells. Maybe Tragic Arrogance or Divine Reckoning? Some artifact or destruction hate? A couple hatebears? White goodstuff is still good in Sram.

You could try Panharmonicon instead of the resonator. Also Sage's Reverie seems ok to add for a big boost (and mandatory if you increase your aura count)

I feel like Kemba, Kha Regent could fit easily in here. he's an out to Grave Pact effects other than Gift of Immortality. Also you could use Assault Suit for the same effect. Also if you want a one hit wonder, Armory Automaton :D
