More consistency and more recurrence —July 16, 2017

  • Replenish is out, Yawgmoth's Will is in. YW is much more versatile and showed more acceptable results in tests, especialy considering that Replenish has so few targets in this deck.
  • Show and Tell is out - this is a very fun and powerfull card, but since I reduced the amount of targets for it in this deck, I decided to replace it. For now I will jus try to speed up the deck with Grim Monolith instead.
  • Ad Nauseam is out for Dig Through Time. Nauseam is insane card! So many times it was a gg when I played it, especially when Omniscience or infinite mana engine was already on the battlefield. But I have to admit that it was a lot of situations when I have spent almost all my life and didn't fetch the decent cards. This is due to the fact that the deck contains some high cmc cards and a lot of cards which are sucking out life resource. I am not confident about this desicion, but I have to try DTT cuz it seems like a very good replacement.

Do you have any way to combat Lost Legacy turn 3? or any other card that works similarly?

I don't really understand why should I be afraid of Lost Legacy turn 3. It will exile only one non artifact card. The only card that comes to my mind which could be realy dangerous is Sadistic Sacrament with kicker. But it is definetly not turn 3, 4, or even 5. And I think when you play in multiplayer with 3 opponents It is pretty slow and ineffective card, because it will hit only one opponent, so I've never seen someone played this card.

The answer to the question how to protect yourself from those cards is to counterspell them. Things like Jester's Cap can be exiled.

I was just thinking that Lost Legacy hits omniscience, shutting down most (99%) of your win cons. i still run it in my group for literally that one reason, to shut down infinite combos. even if they do smack down omniscience, i can usually flash in lost legacy (using Vedalken Orrery or something like that) to shut it down

Sadistic Sacrament is a solid tool for black decks to fight against combo (usually without kicker), and thanks to cards like Dark Ritual, it can come out quickly. This deck will not fold to it completely, but getting something like Palinchron, Peregrine Drake and Phyrexian Altar exiled might hurt. Also, without access to Omniscience you lose some speed, so that's another option to get exiled.

Lost Legacy seems like a worse version of Sadistic Sacrament, i don't see a reason to play that card in EDH.

Just because you dont see a reason doesnt mea it isnt played. Just warning you, no need to get rude and defensive

Yes Emzed, Sadistic Sacrament is a nasty card without a doubt, but it is not the worst thing for this deck. The real problem for me when cards like: Blood Moon, Back to Basics, Rest in Peace are on the table. Those are a real pain.

Athraithe, the deck have 8 infinite mana engines along with Omniscience so if someone will exile Omniscience, it wont be a big problem.

Athraithe I was just expressing my personal opinion. I apologize if that appeared rude to you, that was by no means my intention.

9 fetches with only 8 possible things to get from the fetches doesn't seem to be that helpful, that would mean one of the fetches would be dead if you managed to draw all nine

Well, I counted nine targets for fetchlands:

  1. Godless Shrine
  2. Hallowed Fountain
  3. Island
  4. Plains
  5. Scrubland
  6. Swamp
  7. Tundra
  8. Underground Sea
  9. Watery Grave

But to be honest, I can only recall a couple of games in which all the fetchlands were used.

I also had a lot of games in which Chromatic Lantern was on the battlefield. So all the lands (including fetchlands) were helpful.

I think this deck needs an Overwhelming Splendor.

Have you seen this new card yet from HOU?

Hi!

Thanks for the comment. No, I haven't seen it. I will definitely look at this card. Thanks for the suggestion and upvote!

Overwhelming Splendor = "I am so disappointed!"

This is 99.9% dead draw card & really useless in multiplayer EDH imho.

No offence Delta-117.

Oh my bad, it was rather late at night and I only gave this a quick glance over, and for some reason seeing this I thought that card might be good here for some reason upon seeing stuff like Omniscience, and Academy Rector.

Given that you have only 4 enchantments, I think you could drop Replenish for Obzedat's Aid.

Yawgmoth's Will is no slouch and will do great things, Obzedat's Aid is just another option as well, seeing as it returns a permanent from your graveyard to the battlefield, it's how I got Omniscience into play when those two cards were standard legal at the same time!

Also, I know this is one thing people can be divided on. For me personally, cards like Dark Ritual are just really bad in a format like Commander, it's only good a small percentage of the time.

Of course there will be anecdotes of where it was amazing, but in my opinion rituals that are mana and mana only have extremely narrow upside.

I realize it's not in your colours but at least Manamorphose both allows you total fixing and replaces itself.

Hi Baerik!

Thanks a lot for Your comment. I agree that Replenish is not good enough. I came to this conclusion a long time ago, and was thinking to replace it. Actually I already testing the deck without Replenish (dropped it for Yawgmoth's Will). You confirmed my slowly growing doubts about this card, thanks for that. Obzedat aid is not bad, but I think it is to slow.

As for the Dark Ritual... I understand what You trying to say.Based on my experience playing this deck, I can say that DR was very often realy helpful. Considering that the deck has no access to green, this spell often gives You a decent speed up. However I have to admit that there was some moments in some games whene I was disappointed drawing this card.

I will think about Your words about DR, maybe I will try to test the deck without it.

Thanks a lot again, for all Your comments and Your opinion on specific cards!
