MY FIRST MODERN DECK

Any possible help on my mana curve (?) or other suggestions

My Inventory

The overall deck gameplay is utilizing Gideon, Martial Paragon's +2 ability in coordination with the exert to keep your cards untapped, but still use the exert abilities

Below listed are some specific strategies and gameplay mechanics that I've come up with

Gideon's Resolve

Use this card only if either you do not have Gideon, Martial Paragon in your hand, or if Gideon, Martial Paragon is in your graveyard, as it works as a resurrection in the same manner

Cartouche of Zeal + Trial of Zeal

This combo works with allowing you to reuse the Trial of Zeal and deal more damage. The strategy here is to not put down Cartouche of Zeal until you have as many Trial of Zeal cards as you can.

This does mean that if you already have a Trial of Zeal played, and have in your hand 1x Cartouche of Zeal and 1x Trial of Zeal, you wait until you play Cartouche of Zeal before playing Trial of Zeal

Cartouche of Zeal

Use this as a quick drop on a creature that you put into the battlefield, adding haste and +1/+1. Try to only use this card on newly casted creatures as the haste is a very important factor with the enchantment

Trial of Zeal

Trial of Zeal should really only be used against your opponent (player), unless your opponent has any key creatures that would pose a threat and you can take out with Trial of Zeal.

Nef-Crop Entangler + Cartouche of Zeal + Tah-Crop Elite + Gideon, Martial Paragon

This combo creates a 6/6 creature with Haste and Trample, and attacking it on the same turn.

Key Components:

This Combination is divided into two steps, Pre-Combo and Combo
To prepare for the combo, you must have at least , where preparations will take at least two turns, or one turn if you have
The Combo, not including Pre-Combo casting costs, will require at least

To make this combo work, Tah-Crop Elite will need to be already in play.

Tah-Crop Elite will be used for its +1/+1 exert ability

Gideon, Martial Paragon

This Combo requires Gideon, Martial Paragon to be in play.

Gideon, Martial Paragon will be used for his +2 ability to grant +1/+1 to all creatures

Nef-Crop Entangler

This card will act as our Creature that we will build off of to create the 6/6 Creature from

With Tah-Crop Elite and Gideon, Martial Paragon down, you are ready to use the combo.

  1. Cast Nef-Crop Entangler. It will at this point be a 2/1 creature with Trample, and summoning sickness
  2. Enchant Nef-Crop Entangler with Cartouche of Zeal. At this point, Nef-Crop Entangler will be a 3/2 creature with Trample and Haste.
  3. Use Gideon, Martial Paragon's +2 ability to grant Nef-Crop Entangler +1/+1 until end of turn. At this point Nef-Crop Entangler will be a 4/3 creature with Trample and Haste.
  4. Finally, attack with Tah-Crop Elite and Nef-Crop Entangler, using both's exert ability, in total granting +2/+3 until end of turn. Nef-Crop Entangler is now attacking as a 6/6 creature with Trample and Haste.
This part of the strategy was added in the update "Zombies Expansion" (See updates), including a side-strategy of zombies and somewhat infinite fighters.

This strategy utilizes the Embalm feature, in coordination with Anointer Priest as a life gainer.

This was my first major addition to the gameplay of the deck, adding the whole spectrum of Embalm as a part of the strategy. Along with this addition, I also swapped out some generic cards, and re-balanced the mana ratio, removing 2 mountains and adding 2 plains
