My original idea to try and build around Runechanter's Pike for the Modern format was a failure. Even while running Thought Scour and a ton of staple 1-drop instants I couldn't get there.

Much of my failure was also due to the fact that I was completely unprepared for the meta. I had no answers to discard and couldn't gain advantage if I had failed to secure a victory before the mid-late game transition.

My interesting addition is Squadron Hawk to help thin my deck and keep my grip and field full of chump blockers.

I'm going to forget about the Runechanter's Pike idea for now and move more towards some type of midrange.

I snagged some Ojutai's Command and will main 2 of them; being able to get something back on turn 4 seems good. I added a Moorland Haunt and many are just completely unprepared for the chump-blockers it dishes out. I came into a couple fetch-lands and will be looking for 2 or 3 more.

As always, good solid advice and criticism is welcome.

Keep in mind my decks are always a WORK IN PROGRESS. In addition, I would like this to not just look like another net-decked Jeskai build.

Well, I was completely unprepared for the meta and lost horribly with my original build.

I've ditched the Runechanter's Pike and leaned more towards a nice, midrange build. I'm keeping the Squadron Hawk because it's hilarious and effective.

I've added Ojutai's Command as it seems helpful and a good way to build some mid-late game tempo if I have lost it.

I've also reworked my sideboard to better deal with discard and late-game bombs.
