The goal of this deck is for Pain Seer, Drana, Liberator of Malakir, and Dreg Mangler to put in a lot of work while keeping the opponent's board clear with the high amount of removal.

Thoughtseize is also arguably the best card in pioneer. I feel like our turn one plays are some of the best you can have in the format. Deathrite Shaman is sort of a busted card that I am really surprised more people don't use in pionner. It actually feels like a huge reason this deck is good is because it can use it well. It also offers a lot more flexibility in the sideboard because you don't need to run anything like Tormod's Crypt or Leyline of the Void because you will want to be exiling a card from your opponent's graveyard every turn anyway with Deathrite Shaman. Your opponent could kill it but then you can just get it back with Kolaghan's Command.

Pain Seer might look fairly vulnerable and that you won't get a lot of value from it, but that's where you're wrong! Ghor-Clan Rampager can give it +4/+4 for an attack, Drana, Liberator of Malakir can put some counters on it, Dreg Mangler can be scavenged to beef it up, and so on. This all also applies to Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger as well. Pitching a Ghor-Clan Rampager to make Kroxa into a 10/10 with trample can end games. Deathrite Shaman can also fix your mana to fuel Kroxa's escape cost or give you some extra mana to scavenge Dreg Mangler.

That is assuming that the opponent has any creatures to block with anyway because of all the removal this deck runs. There is even more removal in the sideboard.
