Well since you have a B lean on the deck Nightveil Specter could be a better option than Royal Assassin .

@Ohthenoises

I have Royal Assassin in there for some repeated removal. Since I can activate him in response to them declaring attackers, he acts as a huge deterrent, which gives me time to lock them out.

If you know some more Tap-to-kill creatures that are cheap like that or other repeated removal, that would be wonderful.

4x Nevermore + 3x Runed Halo + 4x Pithing Needle , granted in sideboarded, seems like a bit of an overkill to me. I would probably cut the some count of Halos and Nevermores.

When you're already graveyard/library hating, you don't need that much protection, against specific cards.

Also, how about Surgical Extraction ?

Sin Collector would be a great add...

Yeah, I've actually been working to get some. The Despise are a good filler right now because I can take away early beaters that aren't worth wasting a Path to Exile on. Thanks for the advice.

I do not have any original prints of Thoughtseize but I was fortunate enough to get 2 from 3 booster boxes and trade a friend for another 2. yeah the 2 life drain sucks but definitely the "jack of all trades" when it comes to discard/removal.

If this about exile, then I'd definitely reccomend Ashen Rider. It can wipe a threat you cant deal with and give you a flyer with a good body.

I like the idea of having Maindeck Enchant/artifact hate without having to waste a slot. The Hide part can be exiled and cast through the scepter which is awesome. That is what we call, good deck building.

I built this with tweaks for my weekly Thursday casual game. I'll report back it's success.

I see I'm late to the thread, but I just stumbled across this gem. Great execution of an interesting idea! You're making great use of a lot of cards that don't see much play, and I haven't seen a deck that stacked 'search and remove' effects for a long time. I tried a rainbow deck using the Sowing Salt type cycle years ago, but it wasn't great. +1 on this beauty from me!

This deck just made my day; I get so frustrated with stagnant metas.

What about Extirpate?

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I had tried Extirpate in a previous build, but I found that it was kind of narrow in use. Now that we have silver bullets like Lost Legacy and Infinite Obliteration at just three mana, we can be a bit more flexible. Extirpate is a great card though.

MJS154

Honestly, you really could get away with a budget build for the time being. The most expensive integral piece now is Runed Halo and thanks to UMA, it is already about $5 a piece. Swap Inquisition and Thoughtseize for some combination of Duress, Despise, and Divest to get that early game intel that is- list text here so important to this deck. A playset of Caves of Koilos and a bunch of basics would easily form your mana base. In the sideboard, Leyline of Sanctity can become Ivory Mask and Porphyry Nodes can join Sadistic Sacrament in becoming more spot removal such as Mortify, Anguished Unmaking and even Utter End. I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't get it right at or even below $100. Good luck!

BS-T

Hey, thanks for that! I am glad you like it.

If you're willing to splash blue, Unmoored Ego would be a perfect upgrade for this deck. There's also Eradicate and its kin from Betrayers of Kamigawa. And If you decide you want creatures, just know that Shimian Specter and Circu, Dimir Lobotomist exist.

This beautiful conglomeration of absolute denial has inspired me to build a similarly themed deck that I am presently aiming to make competitive, so thank you.

Aside from Pithing Needle, the added mana for Sorcerous Spyglass may be well worth the slot to view your opponent's hand and capitalize on the effect.

I like the Unmoored Ego, and if I added blue then Meddling Mage would seem like a good route. Unfortunately, Meddling Mage dies to almost every piece of removal in Modern. So it becomes far less viable and leaves us with just the Ego. I do like it, but that would be a painful manabase since the deck is so heavy on double color costed cards. Eradicate, Shimian Specter and Circu are all really neat too, but going heavier into four mana and greater cards not only shaves off our low cost silver bullets, but it also heightens our chance at dead cards in our hands. But thank you for taking the time to share your ideas and I wish you luck in your version!

DangoDaikazoku

I honestly don't know how I forgot about Spyglass. The information that it provides about our opponent's hand and future game plan in game 2 and 3 is pretty great. Good on you for the great idea!

Haha I use Sorcerous Spyglass in my Aminatou EDH Stax list and it works wonders with her -1 flicker ability to constantly see what's in your opponent's hand at any given time and name a new card based on that information you get. If you could add more flicker effects in here you might get some added versatility.

I agree that you should keep your mana costs low and you already run a lot of cards at cmc 3, but your only means of REMOVING on board threats are three board wipes and the ability of Profane Procession  Flip. I'm just saying if they have answers to enchantments, you might be kinda screwed. Also, Gideon of the Trials seems like a decent idea if you add Gideon's Intervention lol.

My version shifted through a variety of color combinations including sultai, but I think I have settled on dimir and primarily using Surgical Extraction. Turn 1 inquisition into surgical seems like fun.
