Been trying to make Mardu work for a while. This is the latest brew. I figured B, R, and W have the best removal suite (lacking only Abrupt Decay), so I made a heavy removal control deck. With such a spell-heavy deck, I decided that Young Pyromancer and Monastery Mentor would make for fine incremental finishers.

I went with a 4-3 split for Pyro and Mentor since I want to land a Pyromancer the most, and Mentor has 3CMC so it's higher on the curve. Lingering Souls is here for more resiliency since Pyro and Mentor are pretty big removal targets.

Bolt, Helix, and Path are easy playsets. Kolaghan's Command adds a ton of versatility to the deck. Mini-Blightning is great, it can return any of the creatures to start pumping out more tokens, and main deck artifact hate is icing. Terminate is amazing for creature removal, and Dreadbore can hit Karn and opposing Lilianas. Utter End isn't fantastic in the early game, but as things get going it'll take out anything troubling, barring hexproof or being countered.

I wanted to keep the creature count low, so instead of Bob I opted for 2x Outpost Siege and 1x Chandra. Chandra's more versatile but easier to remove, so I went with less of her, but through testing her +1 has been great in control matchups so I might switch the numbers there. In the late game they help sift through the irrelevant removal or excess lands. Chandra can also take out annoying Snapcasters. Liliana is Liliana. She comes down and in a deck like this immediately takes control of the game.

Not really playing to a certain meta, so the SB is going as wide as possible. If I were facing a lot of Tron, I'd up the Molten Rains and possibly thrown in Fulminators. Slaughter Games and Inq take care of a lot of combo. RIP takes care of anything that uses the GY. Not sure if I really want Pyroclasm since it kills Pyro and clears the tokens. Wear//Tear is for Affinity and troublesome enchantments, especially Leyline of Sanctity. When Origins comes out I want to look at Hallowed Moonlight since it hates out a significant portion of the format.
