UR Tempo Twin

Creature (1)

A lot of my card choices are based on my preference for playing the tempo game more than the combo game - I like to use the threat of the combo to let me squeak in damage over the course of a game, and then close out with burn, Pestermites, or Cliques. Because of this, I don't run anything that costs more than 4 in my main, and I make use of Cryptics more offensively than most. The majority of my cards cycle, and I run Izzet Charm for the choices it offers. In a pinch, being able to dig for the combo is just as useful as the Counterspell potential.

I find that having a singleton Twisted Image allows me to take out early problems as well as deal a surprise 3 damage on a Deceiver attack (though this will only ever work once), and it is a maindeckable answer to Spellskite that cycles. This pairs nicely with Flame Slash to handle a good amount of creatures.

I personally never liked Grim Lavamancer in the list as it led to too many situations where my mana was constricted or I was caught between Snapcaster or Grim. I found that snapcaster overall tended to be better, and I often cast him at the end of my opponent's turn 2 for no value simply to chip away at their life total. Grim could serve the same purpose, but uses mana to do so, and I wanted to always represent a wide variety of moves.
