They make mana a turn earlier. I really like BTE though, if I wasn't in love with my basic land arts I would probably play it over Sylvan Ranger. Well, the art and the amount of Blood Moons I used to fight. You're certainly not wrong to play it, or any of the similar creatures if it fits your meta.

So, I had a cute combo idea involving Quirion Sentinel, Cloudstone Curio, Aluren and a second creature cmc3 or less creature. Any thoughts about a good commander deck to put that in and what I could use the infinite mana for? Thrasios immediately comes to mind but I'm not sure what the wincon would be. Could be done similarly with any of the "Makes mana when it ETBs" creatures but Quirion seems like the best option.
