card draw enchantment

Commander Deck Help forum

I've been looking for an enchantment that I can pay an amount of colorless mana to draw a card or loot or something of the sort. I am playing Kruphix (simic), so its not the price, its the ability to draw when i want to that i need. The closest I've found is Compulsion. this uses a blue, which limits how many times i can use it. Does anyone know of any that cost only colorless to activate?

Thrasios, Triton Hero may be just what you're after.

Myr_Mythic i've tried thrasios and i know this will sound dumb but 4 is kinda pricy and i don't like the reveal aspect of it

Have you considered Future Sight? It's essentially a free card play engine without actually drawing the card, and can contribute to ramp since you're running green allowing you to drop more lands. Yes, your opponents get to see the card but it's not really a downside. But the card is very good.

if you're in blue, Mystic Remora and Rhystic Study get out of hand fast when left unanswered.

Treasure Trove is all about what you want but also costs 4. This must be a sign that this is about the 'going rate' for the effect, and half price if you're discarding too.

You could use something clue related like Ongoing Investigation.

Excavation is cheap but has an annoying downside, but maybe not so bad if you're banking loads of mana and ramping into lands.

Consecrated Sphinx is op af

also Words of Wind is funneh in draw heavy

simic usually is best at passive or creature-based draws, passive being Rhystic Study and Sylvan Library, and creature based theres a shitload, from Yavimaya Elder to Momir Vig, Simic Visionary all the way to Edric, Spymaster of Trest and Prime Speaker Zegana, simic is after all a creature focused guild/color combo so its most practical use is stuff like Elvish Visionary, Survival of the Fittest or Birthing Pod,

if you're running heavy tribal such as merfolk or elves, Slate of Ancestry will win you games with a single activation most of the time since simic is very good at shitting out creatures like Avenger of Zendikar very early in games

but as far as colorless activated simic enchantments, i dont think they exist, most draw enchantments cost colored mana or are just free draw like Sylvan Library

but simics strongest asset is creatures rather than enchantments, since it cant run stuff like Serra's Sanctum or Necropotence, so enchantments isnt really going to get you very far outside of kruphix himself

In defense of Thrasios: His ability is repeatable and lets you scry before you reveal, I think the ability to filter outweighs the downsides.

i second that notion, although thrasios is a creature he comes out very early and is one of the best mana dumping commanders in the format, yes his ability cost 4 but you're also playing green, and kruphix of all things.. 4 mana is extremely easy to get in green, more so than any other color in edh, and your general himself generates endless colorless mana, thrasios is the only "colorless activated draw" card available in your colors, so if you dont like him, the other options are all inferior, but thrasios is the only simic card that has the ability you are seeking, no such enchantment exists at this moment.

I agree, it should be Thrasios, Triton Hero. Try it, and you may be surprised at how well it works. Equip him with Illusionist's Bracers, as well, and get double the fun out of an activation. If you've got a good amount of creatures, and are playing with any combos like Palinchron and Deadeye Navigator, and lands like Gaea's Cradle or a flipped Growing Rites of Itlimoc  Flip, then you'll be just fine on the mana.

Mind's Eye is a great way to spend your colorless mana.

Otherwise if you are just looking for ways to dump tons of mana into a draw spell just before your turn, forget the enchantment requirement and just use instant speed draw like Pull from Tomorrow. I run that card and its ilk in my control decks that need instant speed draw and they work great.
