First FNM with this deck —Feb. 10, 2012

the FNM went great!!!!! so here's what happened---

round 1: V.S. mono blue delver- win 2-1

in the first matched, i absolutley got killed, mainly because i muliganed down to 5 cards, which was a Forest, Llanowar Elves Increasing Savagery and 2 Bellowing Tanglewurm's.

the second and third match's i had a turn 2 Dungrove Elder that swung for the win on both occasions!! My opponents only defense for them was Vapor Snag and Unsummon and they didn't work because of the wonderful power of hexproof!!!!!

round 2: V.S. GR kessig wolf run- lose 0-2

I just lost both games because he ramped into his titan so quickly, then got his kessig wolf run out with Inkmoth Nexus and that was game. I did manage to get him below 5 life each game before he killed me, so im fairly content with how my deck faired against the #1 deck out there!!.

Round 3: V.S. mono black poison-win 2-0

there was just no way for him to keep up with the amount of creatures that i was able to place on the board. Both games started with mana dork's and some turn 2 either Dungrove Elder or Predator Ooze. that basically won me both games.

Round 4: V.S. ( of course) black blue delver - win 2-0

This version of a Delver of Secrets  Flip deck was way more controlling than another archetype of it that i have ever seen before. After our matches, i asked my opponent about his deck and it happens to be that he was running 12 kill spells, 10 counters, 4 Delver of Secrets  Flip , 4 Grave Titan, 4 Frost Titan, and 2 Sphere of the Suns it was just complete control with some creatures. ( the guy kinda scared me :)

Round 5: v.s. (maybe it was an experiment) red black control - win 2-0

This was a very odd deck. His main goal was to try and burn me out, when he only had 7 burn spells in his entire deck!!! he had only 4 creatures ( a playset of Goblin Fireslinger's ) those were the onnl ways that he had to win, so it wasnt hard to beat him.

After the match, i asked him how long he had been playing magic, and if he has attended any other FNM's or anything , and he said that he had been playing for about 6 years, and that he had made a lot of decks in the past. ( i hope none were like the one i had to play against, cause it was kinda bad!!)

i am looking for ways to make this deck just a tiny bit faster, so let me know if you can think of any. please give comments and don't forget to +1 !!!

i have tested them both, and let me tell you, when had them, i had really wish they were lead the stampede instead. just because late game, they suck, late game with lead the stampede is usually great, especially with my mana dorks.

i would say replace sacred wolf with Strangleroot Geist, but definately +1 for the deck looks quite good

maybe just 2 Creeping CorrosionMTG Card: Creeping Corrosion's in the sideboard would be enough. the other two slot's would probably be for a couple of more specific card's for deck's viable in standard format. Nihil SpellbombMTG Card: Nihil Spellbomb's or Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage's might be more useful in certain stuation's e.g. swapping them out with Bellowing TanglewurmMTG Card: Bellowing Tanglewurm against SplinterfrightMTG Card: Splinterfright deck's. maybe you could add some green removal. Ambush ViperMTG Card: Ambush Viper and Prey UponMTG Card: Prey Upon suffice this considering how big your creatures are/will get, just incase you get into a tight spot. otherwise its a sound deck. it kinda bugs me that some apostrophes are put in the wrong places so this post is now plastered with gramatical errors

I'd cut the OverrunMTG Card: Overrun down to 3 and Bellowing TanglewurmMTG Card: Bellowing Tanglewurm down to 2 or 3. Both of those are the kind of cards you only want to see once in a game, especially the wurm because the second one you play is just a 4/4 intimidate for 5.

Predator OozeMTG Card: Predator Ooze isn't a very good card and you should probably cut it. I'd swap all 4 for Strangleroot GeistMTG Card: Strangleroot Geist. Think about it, the geist comes down on turn 2 and pounds for 2 immediately. By turn 5 he has done 8 damage... possibly more if he dies early. Predator OozeMTG Card: Predator Ooze comes down and does nothing on his way to 5 damage by turn 5. You will probably be able to ramp out the ooze on turn 2 but it still takes 4 turns for the ooze to out-damage the geist, once again not counting if the geist gets a +1/+1 counter. Versus black removal they are about as good as each other because the geist survives edicts and -x/-x spells once but the ooze can eat Doom BladeMTG Card: Doom Blade and Go for the ThroatMTG Card: Go for the Throat all day.

A possible alternative to Lead the StampedeMTG Card: Lead the Stampede is Tracker's InstinctsMTG Card: Tracker's Instincts since with the BoPs you can pay the flashback cost. In general I think I'd rather dig 8 deep and get the 2 best creatures from Tracker's InstinctsMTG Card: Tracker's Instincts than just nab whatever creatures I get from Lead the StampedeMTG Card: Lead the Stampede (stampede will average out to 2.17 creatures per cast if you stay on 26 creatures). Maybe run a split of 3 stampede to 2 instincts?

Finally, I think you've got to ask yourself what exactly are you ramping to. Increasing SavageryMTG Card: Increasing Savagery flashback is 7 and is very powerful but where are the big green beatsticks to help you break the stalemate? Chancellor of the TangleMTG Card: Chancellor of the Tangle can help you get an even more explosive start while providing a decent end-game body and is super cheap. Plus, with all the ramp you shouldn't have much of a problem getting him out. Engulfing SlagwurmMTG Card: Engulfing Slagwurm, Garruk's HordeMTG Card: Garruk's Horde, and Liege of the TangleMTG Card: Liege of the Tangle are some other fatties that can help you win in the long run that don't cost a lot. Another option is to use a card like Jade MageMTG Card: Jade Mage to give yourself a mana sink. Don't forget he goes great with OverrunMTG Card: Overrun.

Maybe cut some OverrunMTG Card: Overrun's, and Increasing SavageryMTG Card: Increasing Savagery. I really want to see Green Sun's Zenith MTG Card: Green Sun's Zenith and Strangleroot GeistMTG Card: Strangleroot Geist in here! lol

Master flinter, you are correct about some things, but the only reason that i want predator ooze to be in this deck is simply because it wont die. the only thing that will be able to kill it is and Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Ring but i will simply play down a creature that will end the game instead. and if i can get out some mana dorks, then play a wurm, then play a OverrunMTG Card: Overrun i will be able to wipe out my opponent. that s all there is to it.

i will however be testing the efficiency of Tracker's InstinctsMTG Card: Tracker's Instincts and Green Sun's Zenith MTG Card: Green Sun's Zenith . The only reason i might try to use Tracker's InstinctsMTG Card: Tracker's Instincts instead of the overwhelming stamped is because i can use it twice maybe, and i can play i turn two.
