This is a Tezzeret deck from way back that I have tweaked to play around with before rotation.

This deck is one that my friend was running a few months ago and doing quite well with. I've been playing GW aggro ever since Innistrad came out but I wanted to play something different before rotation. I played this deck as he had it built and went 3-2 a few weeks ago. My only losses were to the people who ended up in first and second though and I made some misplays in both cases that I wouldn't make as I get more familiar with the deck. In one memorable game from that first time out, I beat RUG ramp despite him casting Bonfire of the Damned three times (for 2, 6, and 8 respectively), twice as a miracle. I won the game with damage but the game went so long he actually had almost milled himself - he even cast a Farseek near the end just to thin his deck to draw what he needed only to discover that he actually had no non-forest basic lands left.

Due to summer happening, I haven't been able to get out again until last friday. It's been almost a month since the 3-2, and I had been playing some games with friends in between. Confident that my frequency of misplays was getting pretty low and my familiarity with the deck was enough to even make some tweaks, I moved the Spine of Ish Sah combo to the sideboard for slower matchups and focused on the early game. This included adding two Chronomaton. I can't be sure if this is a good addition or if my addiction to playing with fun cards that take opponents by surprise but are actually just jank was coming into play here. My thought it that the deck usually plays out by losing a lot of life early on because of having no small creatures, which makes sense because with 3xBlack Sun's Zenith they normally end up just dying. But Chronomaton can both end up coming out early and yet still survive my own board wipe (especially if Tezz turns it into a 5/5). I also added the two Gitaxian Probe as part of by plan to improve the early game - draw into what I need, and be able to play around my opponents better... especially since I've gotten out of touch with the meta-game. Since I was unsure of both of these choices I ran only 2 of each, which means I didn't really see either card enough to know if they were doing their respective jobs. Another change I made from the original deck was the Sphere of the Suns - again to improve the early game and get to my important 4 drop slot, which is where my final addition was - the 2x Trading Post. Two may not seem like a lot but Tezz helps you find them and with 3 metamorphs I can get the double post combo going quite easily. One mistake I think was going from 24 to 23 lands - I was worried about flooding since I removed the one late game Spine of Ish Sah lock and added a bunch of early game ramp, etc. - but I think this ended up hurting me more than it helped.
